This U.S. top-load, high-efficiency washer may use less water than you expect; a low-looking water level alone does not prove there is a fault. The model was manufactured from July 2016 through February 2024. Check the exact model’s owner center and manual before applying guidance intended for another washer.
Washer will not start
Make sure the lid is fully closed. The HTW240ASKWS manual says the washer needs a closed lid for the cycle to start. If it still will not start, consult the exact-model manual and GE Appliances support for this model, or arrange qualified service. The available model-specific guidance does not establish a button combination or reset procedure, so avoid trying one based on advice for a different washer.
Clothes are too wet or the Spin light is blinking
A blinking Spin light can indicate an out-of-balance load. The washer may try to correct the imbalance during the cycle. If the cycle ends and clothes are still wetter than expected, redistribute them evenly in the basket and run Drain & Spin, as the owner manual directs. A blinking light or wet load by itself does not identify a failed part.
Water remains after a pause or cancelled cycle
If the washer stays paused for more than 24 hours, the cycle is cancelled. When water remains, select Drain & Spin according to the manual. That instruction addresses water left after a cancelled cycle; it does not explain why a washer that repeatedly fails to drain is doing so. For a recurring drainage problem, use model-specific support or a qualified service route rather than guessing at the cause.

The water level looks low
The HTW240ASKWS is a high-efficiency washer, and its manual says a lower water level than you may remember from a previous washer can be normal. Do not add water or assume a fill fault solely because the water does not cover the load as it did in another machine. If the washer is not completing a cycle or another symptom accompanies the low level, check the model’s manual and support page.
When to contact service
If these operating checks do not resolve the problem, or the symptom keeps returning, use the HTW240ASKWS owner center and official service options. The reviewed model-specific pages do not establish an error-code table. Do not apply a code list for Hotpoint machines sold in the UK or infer a failed component from a light or symptom alone.

Warranty and accessories
The manufacturer’s specification page lists a limited one-year parts-and-labor warranty as the general warranty. Coverage for an individual washer depends on its written warranty, so check that document and contact the manufacturer about eligibility. The same page lists accessories including the WH49X301 Washing Machine Drain Hose Extension Kit and WX10X312 Cerama Bryte Washer Cleaner. An extension kit is relevant only if the installation requires it; cleaner is for maintenance, not a fix for a mechanical fault. Confirm model fit and installation requirements on the manufacturer’s product page before purchasing.
