A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Start by identifying your Glacier Bay toilet’s exact model and flush design, then match the symptom to the likely fault. A toilet that keeps refilling may have a leaking flapper or flush-valve seal; one that fills continuously without water moving into the bowl may have a fill-valve problem. These are diagnostic clues, not definitive tests, so check the source before replacing parts.
Identify your toilet before buying parts
Glacier Bay toilets use different components, including dual-flush and flapperless designs. A part that fits one model may not fit another. Find the product or model number on the toilet, box, receipt, or manual, then check the manual or product specifications. Home Depot says photos may help its customer service team identify a toilet if its number is missing. See Glacier Bay customer service and product support.
Compare the model number, flush design, and existing component’s shape or model number before ordering. For example, Home Depot lists fill valve 400ARHR, flapper 5401GB, and flush valve 540AKR for the Glacier Bay N2428E-10. Those parts are an example for that model, not a universal Glacier Bay repair kit. The N2428E-10 parts listing can help confirm the match.
Toilet runs or refills by itself
Remove the tank lid and observe what happens between flushes. If the tank keeps filling and water is not quickly flowing into the bowl, the fill valve may not be shutting off correctly. If water is moving into the bowl, or the toilet makes brief, intermittent refill sounds, a flapper or flush-valve seal may be leaking. These clues come from Home Depot’s running-toilet repair guide; inspect the parts rather than treating the symptom as a confirmed diagnosis.

Check a flapper-style tank
- Check that the chain is not tangled, caught under the flapper, or pulling the flapper open.
- Inspect the flapper and the drain seat for debris. Clean both surfaces so the flapper can seal.
- If the flapper is worn or damaged, replace it with a part listed for your exact toilet model.
- If water still leaks past the seal, the flush valve or its seat may need repair. The Fluidmaster guide describes replacing flush valve 507AK or 540AKR, or repairing the seat with 555C, for the system covered by that guide. Do not assume those parts fit a different Glacier Bay design.
For the N2428E-10 specifically, Home Depot lists the 5401GB flapper. A Glacier Bay support response concerning the N2451E advises checking the flush-valve seal and sealing area for debris and leaving slack in the lever chain so the seal can close. That response applies to that product context; consult your model’s instructions for other toilets. If the problem persists, contact Glacier Bay support.
Check a fill valve that will not shut off or refill properly
Follow the instructions for the fill valve installed in your toilet. Fluidmaster’s guide describes shutting off the water, flushing the toilet, removing the cap, cleaning debris, and replacing the seal with a genuine Fluidmaster 242 seal for the valve covered by its instructions. The 242 seal is not established as compatible with every Glacier Bay fill valve. If cleaning or the correct valve-specific seal does not solve the problem, the fill valve may need replacement. Follow its manufacturer’s installation instructions, and do not over-tighten the water-supply connection.

Bowl water level is low after flushing
On the fill-valve and flapper setup covered in Fluidmaster’s 400A instruction booklet, check that refill water travels through the refill tube and down the overflow pipe. The booklet recommends a tank-water level approximately one-half inch below the top of the overflow pipe and approximately one-half inch of slack in the flapper chain if the flapper closes too soon. These checks may not apply to dual-flush or other designs; use the manual for your model.
Water appears on the tank or floor
Dry the area and watch where water appears, so you can distinguish an external leak from a tank leak into the bowl. Home Depot’s repair guide identifies the supply connection or fill valve as possible sources near the tank, the tank-to-bowl connection as another leak point, and a damaged wax ring as a possible cause of water at the toilet base. Locate the source before replacing an internal tank part. If water is reaching the floor and the source is unclear, stop using the toilet until you can assess the leak or get help.

These steps address running, refilling, low-bowl-water, and visible-leak symptoms; they do not establish a universal clog-clearing method or cover every Glacier Bay model. If the toilet’s flush design is unfamiliar, a repair does not match the manual, or the problem continues after the compatible component is checked, use the model’s instructions or contact Glacier Bay support rather than guessing at a replacement part.
