Its design pairs a stepped façade intended to capture rainwater with a program of commercial, civic, office, hotel, and residential space. The project’s exact height and later approval or construction history remain unclear in the cited records.
What is H700 Shenzhen?
The Council on Vertical Urbanism’s Skyscraper Center lists the project as H700 in Shenzhen. bKL Architecture’s current project page calls it Shenzhen Tower; this article uses H700 Shenzhen for clarity. The project is credited to bKL and remains at the design or vision stage in the sources available.
bKL describes the tower as marking a gateway to Shenzhen’s eastern expansion. A 2016 Futurism report instead placed the proposal in Luohu district, highlighting the Caiwuwei financial and commercial area. These are attributed descriptions; the cited sources do not establish a street-level site.
How tall is the proposed H700 Shenzhen Tower?
There is no single verified height in the cited records. They list three distinct figures, and the sources do not explain whether the differences reflect design revisions or different measurement records.

| Source and date | Name or record | Height stated |
|---|---|---|
| Futurism, 2016 | H700 Shenzhen Tower proposal | 739 m (2,424 ft) |
| CTBUH Journal, 2016 | Proposed tower described alongside a planning-package resubmission | 739 m |
| bKL Architecture, current project page | Shenzhen Tower, under “Design” | 642 m |
| The Skyscraper Center, current database entry | H700 | 608 m (1,995 ft) |
The Skyscraper Center explains that architectural height runs from the lowest significant open-air pedestrian entrance to the building’s architectural top, excluding antennas and other functional-technical equipment. Its database figure is a record for the proposed project, not a measurement of a completed tower.
What would the tower contain?
Mixed-use program
bKL lists commercial, civic, office, hotel, and residential uses. The range suggests a mixed-use tower rather than a building dedicated to one tenant or function; the cited page does not provide further details such as floor-by-floor allocation.

Stepped form and rainwater design
bKL describes a tower that steps back as it rises, creating areas for rainwater capture along the façade. The architect says projected captured rainwater would replace the building’s annual estimated water usage. That is a design projection, not an independently verified performance result.
Sky garden and public plaza
Futurism’s 2016 coverage described a spacious sky garden at the top and a public plaza intended to accommodate retail, civic, and institutional programs. Those details belong to that proposal-era report and are not independently confirmed by the current project-page material.

What is the project’s status?
The Skyscraper Center labels H700 “Vision,” while bKL labels its project “Design” and says construction timing is “To be determined.” The historical record does not resolve what happened after the project’s 2016 planning activity.
- Futurism reported in 2016 that plans had yet to be formally approved.
- The 2016 CTBUH Journal said a planning package had been resubmitted for approval.
- Those reports do not establish whether the project was later approved, revised, canceled, revived, or built.
Accordingly, the cited sources do not support describing H700 Shenzhen as under construction, open to visitors, or completed.

How the design was described
Futurism’s 2016 article reproduced wording it attributed to bKL Architecture: “the tower’s elegant form is composed of three transforming design components: the shape, the structure, and the sky gardens, all three design components ground the tower in a continuous interaction between people and nature. the tower is bold, technical, and strong, while at the same time refined, natural, and elegant.”
