Maker Faire Long Island’s eighth annual edition took place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Stony Brook University’s Student Activity Center. Its announced program brought together more than 100 makers for exhibits, performances, and hands-on activities—from fire-breathing sculptures and Star Wars builds to robotics, soldering, and hydroponics. Those figures and attractions describe the organizers’ plans, not verified attendance or a complete record of what happened on the day.
What Maker Faire Long Island 2025 featured
The Long Island Explorium, a children’s museum focused on science and engineering, produced the Faire under license from Make Community LLC. The 2025 edition was presented as a family-friendly celebration of science, technology, engineering, art, and imagination. The organizers expected thousands of visitors from across the tri-state area, but the available accounts do not establish a final attendance count.
The event announcement grouped its attractions across spectacle, hands-on making, engineering, and sustainability. Make: also reported on activities from the event; details specific to its account are attributed below.
Fire sculptures and Star Wars builds
Artist Adam Foster was slated to present three new fire-breathing sculptures: a volcanic flame-shooter, a plasma-carved pumpkin, and a dragon. Star Wars groups included the 501st Legion’s Empire City Garrison, Saber Guild Endor Temple, and Long Island droid-building groups with life-size operational R2-D2 replicas. The 501st planned a life-size recreation of the trash-compactor scene. Saber Guild advertised lightsaber training for children and choreography workshops for adults.

How the 2025 edition fits the event’s timeline
The September 2025 Faire is a past event, not an upcoming date. Maker Faire Long Island’s official homepage describes the ninth annual edition as having taken place at Stony Brook University on June 6, 2026. The two dates belong to consecutive editions; the 2025 announcement’s ticket offer and program should not be read as information for the 2026 event or any future Faire.
