The best Toro mower for your yard depends first on how much lawn you mow, its slopes and obstacles, and whether a wider machine can fit through your gates and storage area. For a small or constrained lawn, compare walk-behind models; for a larger lawn where reducing mowing time matters, consider a zero-turn rider. Toro also sells robotic mowers, but the available information here does not establish which robotic model fits a particular yard.
Use Toro’s acreage figures as estimates, not guarantees: actual coverage depends on conditions such as grass, terrain, and operating speed. Match the mower to your yard before choosing by features or model name.
Start with your lawn, not the model name
Before comparing Toro mowers, note the area you actually mow, the steepness of the ground, obstacles, narrow passages, and the space available for storage and transport. Also consider how much physical effort you want to spend and how quickly you want to finish.
- Mowable area: Measure the lawn, excluding garden beds, buildings, and other areas you do not cut. Acreage recommendations are useful for narrowing the options, but are not a promise of performance on your property.
- Terrain and grade: Slopes can affect control and comfort. Toro’s riding-mower guidance specifically calls out grade, tires, and comfort among the factors to assess.
- Layout: Trees, landscaping, and tight turns affect maneuverability. Check deck width against gates, paths, storage openings, and transport limits.
- Effort and time: A walk-behind requires walking; self-propelled drive can reduce pushing effort. A rider may make sense when the area is larger and mowing time is a priority.
- Other needs: For a rider, consider towing or vegetation needs, controls, comfort, and price alongside acreage and deck width. Toro lists these as buying considerations in its homeowner riding-mower guidance.
Choose a mower category
| Category | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Walk-behind | Small or constrained areas, or when you prefer to mow on foot. | Deck width, push versus self-propelled drive, power source, cut and discharge options, and package contents. |
| Zero-turn riding mower | Larger areas or layouts where maneuvering and mowing time are priorities. | Deck width, grade, tires, comfort and suspension, controls, towing needs, storage, transport, and price. |
| Robotic mower | A category to investigate if automated mowing is your goal. | Check the exact model’s suitability for your lawn. The cited material identifies the category but does not establish model-specific fit. |
Toro’s homeowner lineup includes walk-behind, zero-turn riding, and robotic categories. Its homeowner riding lineup is presented as zero-turn models. For a basic explanation of riding mower types, see Toro’s riding mower type comparison; its residential categories are outlined here.

Compare Toro walk-behind options by deck, drive, and power
A wider deck can cover more ground per pass, but only if it fits your yard’s gates and tight areas. Among Toro’s examples, the 21-inch models are aimed at smaller lawns than the 22-inch and 30-inch examples. Drive type, power source, and what comes in the box also matter.
| Example | Deck and drive | Power and stated coverage | Details to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60V Super Recycler 21568T | 21-inch cast-aluminum deck; Personal Pace rear-wheel drive. | 60V battery; Toro recommends it for yards up to one-third acre. | Mulching and bagging, with optional side discharge. The listed configuration includes zero batteries and zero chargers, so confirm the package contents. Toro product specifications. |
| 2026 21-inch Core Recycler variants | 21-inch deck. | Battery models; Toro’s 2026 catalog lists estimated coverage up to one-third acre. | Battery capacity, run time, charge time, and included equipment vary by model. 2026 walk-power mower brochure. |
| 2026 22-inch Premium Recycler | 22-inch deck. | Battery model; Toro’s 2026 catalog lists estimated coverage up to one-half acre. | Check the exact model’s battery, charger, run-time, and charge-time specifications. 2026 walk-power mower brochure. |
| 2026 eTimeMaster 21491 | 30-inch deck; rear-wheel drive. | Two 10.0 Ah batteries; Toro’s 2026 catalog lists estimated coverage up to two-thirds acre. | Make sure the wider deck fits your routes and storage space. 2026 walk-power mower brochure. |
The acreage figures are Toro’s recommendations or catalog estimates, not independently measured results or guaranteed coverage. Toro notes that catalog run-time specifications depend on light conditions and/or the lowest speed settings. Actual results can vary with lawn conditions and operation. Battery inclusion, runtime, charging time, and warranty differ by model; verify the exact product page and configuration before buying.
Gas or battery?
Battery power may be especially relevant if you already own compatible Toro yard tools: Toro says its 60V Flex-Force batteries are interchangeable across compatible tools. Check whether the specific mower package includes a battery and charger rather than assuming it does. See Toro’s walk-behind and Flex-Force guidance.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhen a Toro zero-turn rider may fit better
For a larger lawn, or a layout where repeated turns and obstacles make mowing time a concern, compare Toro’s zero-turn riders. The lineup includes TimeCutter and TITAN families, with deck sizes and comfort features varying by model. Decide on an appropriate deck only after checking passage width, storage, and transport constraints.
- Deck and yard layout: A wider deck covers more ground per pass, but needs more room to pass through and maneuver.
- Terrain: Assess grade and tires, not just the stated acreage.
- Comfort: Compare the actual seat and suspension features on the model you are considering.
- Controls and speed: Check the control layout and available speed settings against your comfort and mowing needs.
- Other work: If you plan to tow equipment or deal with particular vegetation, check model suitability rather than treating all riders as equivalent.
Examples, not universal picks
The 42-inch TimeCutter 75748 is one example. Toro describes it as having Smart Speed ranges for trim, tow, and mow, plus compact storage; verify current specifications and local availability on the 75748 product page.

- MORE CUTTING POWER: Powerful 170cc 4-stroke OHV engine delivers reliable performance for thick grass and larger yards. Auto choke and recoil start make starting easy.
- LESS PUSHING EFFORT: Self-propelled rear-wheel drive provides better traction on slopes and uneven terrain, reducing pushing effort.
- WIDER CUTS: Wide 22-inch cutting path helps finish mowing faster, while the durable steel deck and heavy-duty blade are built to last season after season.
- VERSATILE 3-IN-1 SYSTEM: Choose between mulching, rear bagging, or rear discharge to match changing lawn conditions.
- EASY HEIGHT CHANGES: Easily adjust cutting height from 1.5" to 3.9" for different mowing needs.
Toro’s 2026 zero-turn brochure covers TimeCutter, TimeCutter MAX, TITAN, and TITAN MAX. In its comparison of listed 60-inch TimeCutter models, both 77601 and 77603 have 23 HP Kawasaki V-twin engines, while the 77603 lists MyRIDE suspension. That feature belongs to the listed model, not the whole TimeCutter family. Compare the specific configuration in the 2026 TimeCutter/TITAN brochure.
Check the exact model and parts before buying
Specifications, package contents, and availability can vary by model and market. Confirm the complete model number and current local listing before treating an example as a recommendation. For replacement parts, deck width alone is not enough to establish fit.

Quick Recap
A practical shortlist for your yard
- Measure the lawn and access points. Record mowable area, narrowest gate or path, and available storage space.
- Choose a category. Compare walk-behinds for smaller or constrained lawns, zero-turn riders for larger areas where time and maneuverability matter, and robotic models only after checking model-specific suitability.
- Narrow by deck and drive. Ensure the deck fits your access routes; decide whether self-propelled walk-behind drive or riding controls suit your needs.
- Compare power and package details. For battery models, check battery capacity, estimated runtime, charging time, and whether batteries and charger are included. Consider shared 60V Flex-Force batteries only when your other tools are compatible.
- Verify the exact configuration. Check current specifications, accessories, dealer availability, and model/serial-number compatibility for replacement parts before purchase.
