The Electrolux-branded EI33AF80WS is the clearest full-size Electrolux upright freezer option documented for U.S. shoppers: Electrolux identifies it as a 19 cu. ft. single-door freezer. Frigidaire, a separate brand, also sells upright freezers through Electrolux Major Appliances, N.A., including garage-ready models in several sizes. There is no evidence-based universal winner; the right choice depends on capacity, fit, installation location, defrost preference, energy use and local availability.

What is the best Electrolux upright freezer?

If you specifically want the Electrolux name, start with the EI33AF80WS. Electrolux describes it as a 19 cu. ft. single-door freezer, and its warranty documentation identifies the same model. ENERGY STAR’s product finder lists an Electrolux 18.90 cu. ft. upright family with automatic defrost and annual energy use of 521 kWh. That finder entry is family-level evidence, not a guarantee that every suffix or current listing has identical specifications. [ENERGY STAR product finder]

For more sizes and configurations, consider Frigidaire upright freezers—but do not mistake them for Electrolux-branded products. Frigidaire’s U.S. range includes a separate FFUE2024A family and models in 13, 15, 16 and 21 cu. ft. capacities. Choose among exact models based on installation conditions and features, rather than assuming the brand name alone determines the best fit. [Frigidaire upright freezers]

Does Electrolux make an upright freezer?

Yes. Electrolux’s U.S. product and warranty materials document the EI33AF80WS as a 19 cu. ft. single-door freezer. [Electrolux EI33AF80WS] [Electrolux warranty information]

It describes automatic defrost, glass shelves, LED interior lighting, high-temperature and door-ajar alarms, and ENERGY STAR certification. The sheet is version 08/25; confirm the model suffix, current availability and installation details before buying. [Frigidaire FFUE2024A specifications]

Which models and sizes are worth comparing?

These options illustrate the differences in capacity, defrost and listed energy use. Frigidaire models below are not Electrolux-branded; specification sheets may be older than current listings.

How much upright-freezer capacity do you need?

Choose capacity according to what you intend to store and how often you buy or prepare food in bulk. Compact 5.8- and 7-cu.-ft. models take less floor space than 19- or 20-cu.-ft. units, but the larger listed capacity is useful only if you have room for the cabinet, door swing and delivery route. Check the internal shelves and bins as well as the nominal cubic-foot figure; the manufacturer specifications provided here do not establish a single capacity rule for every household.

  • Compact storage: compare the 5.8 cu. ft. FFUM0623A and 7 cu. ft. FFUE0725A if a smaller footprint matters more than full-size bulk capacity.
  • Full-size storage: compare the 19 cu. ft. Electrolux EI33AF80WS with Frigidaire’s separate 20 cu. ft. options, keeping brand identity and exact model specifications clear.

Will the freezer fit in its location?

Measure the intended space and the entire delivery route before ordering. The FFUE2024A specification sheet (version 08/25) lists dimensions of 71 3/4 in. high with hinge, 32 5/8 in. wide, 24 1/4 in. deep at the cabinet and 28 1/4 in. deep with the door. Those are model-family measurements, not a substitute for checking the specific unit’s installation guide.

  • Measure the route through exterior doors, hallways, stairways and turns; compare it with the packaged and unpackaged dimensions provided by the seller.
  • Follow the exact installation guide for ventilation and clearance requirements rather than assuming they are the same across models.
  • Confirm the model is rated for the expected room or garage temperatures. “Garage-ready” is a model-specific designation, not a property of every upright freezer.

Can an upright freezer go in a garage?

Only if the exact model is rated for the temperature conditions where it will operate. The FFUE2024A and FFUE0725A manufacturer sheets describe those Frigidaire models as garage-ready, but that label should not be generalized to the EI33AF80WS or other models. Electrolux support says, “We do not recommend installing the unit where the temperature will drop below 55°F.” Check the owner’s guide for the chosen model and the expected extremes in the installation location. [Electrolux Owner Support: Freezer – Not Freezing or Not Cooling]

Manual or automatic defrost?

Automatic defrost reduces the need for periodic manual maintenance. Manual defrost can use less energy, but only if you defrost the freezer regularly. ENERGY STAR says manual-defrost freezers use half the energy of automatic-defrost models and advises not to let frost build beyond one-quarter inch to achieve the savings. [ENERGY STAR: Freezers]

  • Choose automatic defrost if avoiding a planned defrosting task is a priority, and compare the exact model’s annual energy figure.
  • Consider manual defrost if you are willing to monitor frost and defrost periodically in exchange for the potential energy savings.

How much electricity does an upright freezer use?

Use the annual kWh figure for the exact model, then estimate cost using your electricity rate. ENERGY STAR’s general estimate for a certified upright freezer is about 395 kWh per year and about $60 per year; it is a broad estimate, not a promise for a particular model or household. ENERGY STAR says certified freezers are at least 10% more energy-efficient than the federal minimum standard. [ENERGY STAR: Freezers]

Do not treat the generic estimate and a model-family figure as interchangeable. For example, ENERGY STAR’s product finder lists 521 kWh/year for an Electrolux 18.90 cu. ft. upright family, while the older Frigidaire FFUF2021A specification sheet lists 478 kWh/year. For a purchase comparison, consult the current EnergyGuide label for each exact model and calculate annual cost using your local rate: annual kWh × dollars per kWh. The estimate will vary with the rate and actual use.

What else should you compare before buying?

  • Organization: shelf count and material, door bins, lighting and whether the arrangement suits the food you store.
  • Monitoring: check for high-temperature or door-ajar alarms, and whether the controls are easy to reach and read.
  • Installation: review clearance, electrical and location-temperature requirements in the model’s owner and installation guides.
  • Purchase terms: check current local price, stock, delivery, installation, haul-away, warranty and return terms. These can change by location and date.

How to set up and maintain a freezer

  1. Follow the model’s installation guide, including its clearance and location requirements.
  2. Set the freezer to 0°F, Electrolux’s recommended freezer temperature. After installation or a temperature adjustment, allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize before judging the result.
  3. Keep air vents clear and leave room for air to circulate around stored food.
  4. Check that the door closes and seals properly. Electrolux recommends cleaning a gasket with warm, soapy water; a worn, cracked or poorly fitted gasket may need cleaning or replacement.

This guidance comes from Electrolux support and applies broadly; the owner’s guide for the exact model takes precedence. [Electrolux Owner Support: Freezer – Not Freezing or Not Cooling]
