Ecocapsule Box list prices start at €29,900 for the 13.2 m² XS, €55,000 for the 25 m² Classic and €79,900 for the 37.5 m² XL, before VAT. Those figures are not turnkey project totals: configuration, delivery, placement, site preparation, water and sanitation, and local approvals can all affect what it takes to occupy a unit. The Box can operate without utility connections for a significant portion of the year, according to Ecocapsule, but the company qualifies that claim by geographic conditions rather than promising year-round independence.
What the Ecocapsule Box costs
Ecocapsule’s current product page lists starting prices before VAT. The manufacturer’s price lists show higher prices for furnished and fully off-grid water configurations; those PDFs have September 2024 dates in their URLs, so ask for a current written quote with every inclusion and charge specified.

All configuration prices above are manufacturer list prices excluding VAT: see Ecocapsule’s XS, Classic and XL price lists. “Basic” does not mean an empty shell: the Classic Basic specification, for example, includes HVAC for heating and cooling and a bathroom. Standard adds appliances, furniture, beds, dining furniture and lighting. Full adds the off-grid water package, including clean- and wastewater tanks, a chemical toilet and mechanical and UV LED filtration. Confirm the inclusions for the exact model in the signed quote.
Can it support off-grid living?
Ecocapsule says the Box can operate without utility connections for “a significant portion of the year, depending on geographic conditions.” That is a qualified manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of continuous autonomy at every site. Solar output and household demand vary with season, weather, occupancy, heating and cooling loads, and appliance use. The stated system capacity alone cannot establish how long a particular household will remain independent.

Energy capacity varies by model
The manufacturer’s price lists specify the following solar and battery figures for each model’s Basic configuration:

These are equipment specifications, not comparable promises of autonomy. Before choosing a size, ask Ecocapsule to document the assumptions behind any energy estimate for your location, including expected seasonal generation, household loads, HVAC use, backup arrangements and whether grid connection is possible.
Water and sanitation are a separate decision
Do not assume that the headline Basic price includes an off-grid water system. Ecocapsule places that system in the Full configuration. The product sheet describes the Classic fully off-grid option as having 400 L of combined clean- and wastewater tank capacity, but confirm the specification for the chosen model and layout. A tank-based setup still needs a realistic plan for replenishing potable water and handling wastewater; filtration does not remove the need to manage either supply or disposal.

Choosing between XS, Classic and XL
The area figures help narrow the choice, but intended occupancy and the exact floor plan matter as much as nominal size. Ask for usable-space and sleeping-layout details rather than inferring comfort or capacity from area alone.

Check that the layout and storage suit the way you plan to use it.
- Classic, 25 m²: the middle size, listed with 8.3 kWp solar and a 23.2 kWh battery. The product sheet describes a 8.2 m × 3 m × 3.1 m unit with triple-glazed windows, PIR panels, an HVAC heat pump and a 230 V electrical system. Confirm dimensions and equipment against the current quote.
- XL, 37.5 m²: the largest listed area and highest starting price, with 11.84 kWp solar and a 23.2 kWh battery in the Basic specification. More floor area does not by itself prove greater energy independence; household loads and site conditions remain decisive.
What the list price leaves unresolved
Ecocapsule says the customer arranges transportation, though it may assist with logistics partners, and that site preparation is the customer’s responsibility. Placement equipment depends on access to the plot. Get a project quote that separately identifies transport scope, unloading and placement, groundworks or anchoring, access requirements, taxes, water and wastewater arrangements, and any utility work. Without those figures, the list price cannot answer what the installed, permitted, ready-to-occupy project will cost.

The manufacturer advertises “No building permit in most cases,” but this is not a legal determination for a particular plot. Before ordering, ask the relevant local authorities about land use, building classification, planning approval, foundations or anchoring, access, wastewater, electrical work and occupancy. Requirements depend on the jurisdiction and property; a seller’s general statement cannot substitute for a site-specific decision.

Ecocapsule’s Box page says delivery takes three months, while its older dedicated Box site says delivery can take up to four months after prepayment. Treat both as estimates and get the current lead time, start point and transport scope in writing. The pre-order page lists €55,000 and “Available Now” for Box while also showing future model timelines; those mixed signals are not reliable confirmation that a specific model is in stock.
Questions to resolve before committing
- Request an updated quote for the exact model and configuration, showing VAT, included equipment, optional extras and payment terms.
- Confirm the usable floor plan, sleeping arrangement and occupancy assumptions for your intended use.
- Ask for a site-specific energy estimate and its assumptions; clarify seasonal generation, expected loads, backup options and any limits on autonomy.
- Specify the water system, tank capacities, toilet type, filtration, potable-water replenishment and wastewater disposal plan.
- Obtain transport, unloading, placement, site-preparation and access costs for the actual plot.
- Check land use, permits and occupancy rules with the relevant authorities before paying a deposit.
- Get a written delivery estimate and verify that the selected unit is actually available on those terms.
