The best chisel rack plan is the one that fits your actual chisels and the space where you’ll use them. Before choosing a design, measure your set and decide whether you want a wall-mounted holder, a freestanding rack, magnetic retention, storage for measuring tools, or an enclosed case. The plans below offer distinct approaches; none is established as a universal best choice.
Start with your chisels and available space
Measure the tools you intend to store, including their handles and the width of their blades, then allow enough room for each chisel to sit securely without crowding its neighbor. WOOD Magazine notes that its Customized Chisel Rack was built for Stanley No. 60 chisels and that dimensions may vary slightly for another set. Also decide where you’ll reach for the chisels. A freestanding rack can sit on a bench or shelf; a wall-mounted holder uses vertical space and keeps tools accessible at the point of use. A case provides an enclosure, but its opening and storage position matter if you want to reach tools while it is mounted or resting on a bench.

There is no single source-supported cut list for a general chisel rack. Materials belong to individual plans and should not be combined into a universal shopping list.
