The 7 m (23 ft) trailer-based cabin puts its kitchen and lounge in a central living space, with a double-bed bedroom at one end and a bathroom at the other. New Atlas describes it as a vacation home, not as a proven full-time tiny-house solution.
What the Zinc Studio Cabin is
Designed by Australia’s Zinc Studio, the cabin is built on a towable trailer and is shown installed semi-permanently in woodland, with a small deck. New Atlas reports a length of 7 m (23 ft). The article mentions size options and the potential for off-grid operation but does not specify configurations or what off-grid equipment is included. New Atlas, February 20, 2026
How the single-level layout works
Rather than using a loft, the plan keeps the principal spaces on one level. The kitchen and living area occupy the center, while the bedroom and bathroom sit at opposite ends. That arrangement leaves the central room open for everyday gathering and gives the sleeping and washing areas their own zones.
Central kitchen and lounge
The main room combines an L-shaped seating area and a small table with a kitchen fitted with a two-burner propane-powered stove and sink. Large tri-fold glass doors open the room toward the outdoors. The interior is finished primarily in plywood with hardwood trim, according to the article’s gallery captions. A refrigerator is not confirmed: New Atlas only suggests one may be concealed in the cabinetry.

Bedroom and bathroom at opposite ends
The bedroom has a double bed, large windows with blinds, and enough headroom to stand upright. At the opposite end, the bathroom includes a glass-enclosed shower, vanity sink and toilet.
Exterior materials and comfort systems
Corrugated metal gives the exterior its agricultural-shed character, while the timber interior and broad glazed opening create a contrasting, more domestic feel. Zinc Studio co-founder Alex Ryan told New Atlas that the studio’s approach uses “simple, refined spaces” and “honest, hard-wearing materials suited to Australian conditions.” He also said the cabins are designed to sit naturally in their surroundings, drawing on heritage agricultural forms while embracing contemporary living.

The cabin is presented as a vacation home. The New Atlas feature does not establish whether it is suitable for full-time living, and its mention of possible off-grid operation does not specify the systems or configurations needed. The reported trailer base and woodland installation also describe different aspects of the project: it is towable, yet shown set up semi-permanently.
