The design features a front loader, a backhoe bucket and outriggers. WOOD Store lists the plan separately from a matching kit of specialty parts and hardware.
What the plan builds
WOOD Magazine describes a toy backhoe loader with several moving parts. Its front loader can scoop, while the rear bucket drops down for pretend digging; outriggers lower to support the model during play. The project is categorized among WOOD Magazine’s toys and kids’ furniture plans, a category that also includes construction-equipment models.
The publisher describes the play functions this way: “Clear the toy room with the front loader, or drop the bucket to the floor, lower the sure-footed outriggers and excavate the living-room carpet with the backhoe.”
Where to get the plan
The exact plan is listed by WOOD Magazine and sold through WOOD Store. The product page identifies the project as featured in WOOD Issue 226, July 2014; the online page says it was updated January 9, 2024. Those dates refer to different things: the issue’s publication and the webpage update.

The plan and store descriptions establish the project’s toy purpose and main functions, but they do not provide enough information here to confirm dimensions, lumber species, required tools, difficulty, build time, age grade or safety certification. Consult the plan itself for build specifications and assess the finished toy for the intended user.
