The Construction-Grade Truck Crane plan is for building a large wooden toy crane truck, not a full-size construction crane. WOOD Magazine describes a boom extending more than four feet, a 360-degree rotating turntable and working outriggers. The project was featured in WOOD Issue 229 in November 2014; the January 9, 2024 date on the magazine page is an update to that webpage, not the project’s publication date.
What the woodworking plan is for
WOOD Magazine presents this as a construction-themed wooden toy truck crane. Its central mechanisms are a long boom, a rotating turntable and functioning outriggers. These are the publisher’s stated design features, not results of independent testing. See WOOD Magazine’s project page.
What is known about its features
- Boom: WOOD Store says it extends to more than four feet.
- Turntable: The crane’s upper assembly rotates 360 degrees, according to the publisher.
- Outriggers: The design includes functioning outriggers.
The public project description does not provide the complete dimensions, a detailed cut list, material quantities, estimated build time, skill level or safety instructions. Consult the plan itself for construction details rather than relying on the brief product description.
Plan and project kit
WOOD Store lists the plan as product GR-01045 and also lists a related Construction-Grade Truck Crane Project Kit. The kit contains specialty parts and hardware for one crane; it does not include lumber. Check the WOOD Store listing for current price, availability and product format, since catalog information can change.
