The City of Wanneroo is seeking community feedback on two concepts to upgrade the BMX pump track at Gungurru Park in Hocking. Both concepts share the same main track; the choice is whether to add a separate beginner pump circuit or a concrete learn-to-ride track. The City schedules pump track construction for the 2026/27 financial year, while additional park amenities depend on community engagement outcomes.
What changes between the two concepts?
The City says the main pump track and its features are identical in both concepts. The difference is the beginner riding area:

The City describes the proposal as providing beginner, intermediate and advanced riding experiences. The published concepts do not establish that either option has been selected or preferred.
Are parking, toilets and shelter included?
The broader park concept includes a new parking area, toilet block, and additional seating and shelter. The City says construction of these additional amenities is subject to the community engagement outcomes, so they are not confirmed inclusions in the pump track project.

How can residents give feedback?
Residents can review the concept designs, add comments to the interactive plans, review or vote on other comments, and indicate support through the feedback form on the City of Wanneroo Your Say project page. To submit a marker comment and receive a copy, the interactive plan requires a screen name and email address. The project page also lists Your Say messaging, email, phone and mail as contact options.
When is construction planned, and what is budgeted?
The City schedules pump track construction for the 2026/27 financial year; it has not specified a calendar start date in the project information. The 2025/26 Capital Works Program lists project PR-4600, “Gungurru Park, Hocking, Upgrade BMX Pump Track,” with a $100,000 municipal-fund budget total for that year. That annual budget entry is not a confirmed final cost for the whole project.

How does this proposal relate to earlier work?
The current engagement follows an initial concept process in March 2025. The City says feedback at that stage indicated residents wanted a more advanced track. That earlier engagement is distinct from the Gungurru Park BMX track upgrade the City marked complete in June 2021, which used a hard surface intended to tolerate high use, improve safety and reduce maintenance costs.
A March 2025 news report described elements of the earlier concept, including resurfacing, line markings, slopes, bike racks, a repair station, path connections and a shelter with picnic table. Those details should not be taken as confirmed features of the current two concepts.
