There is no single reset or override procedure for every BraunAbility ramp. Use the matching operator manual for basic checks; if the ramp moves unpredictably, appears damaged, or remains stuck, keep people clear and contact a BraunAbility dealer.
Identify the ramp before troubleshooting
“Braun wheelchair ramp” does not identify one mechanism or control layout. BraunAbility offers multiple ramp families and manual revisions, so instructions for one model may be unsafe or incorrect for another. Commercial users can find manuals in the BraunAbility commercial manuals library. Consumer owners should use the manufacturer’s owner support and manual route.
Locate the ramp’s model and serial information, and identify the vehicle or conversion it is installed in. Match all three to the manual before trying a control, reset, or backup method. If you cannot identify the system or find the right manual, ask a dealer to help rather than testing instructions from another model.
Safe checks you can make
BraunAbility describes its manuals as a basic reference and warns that self-service may create NHTSA non-compliance, serious bodily injury, or property damage risks. Keep the ramp path clear, follow the exact manual’s operating sequence, and never reach into a moving mechanism or defeat an interlock.

- Look for an obvious loose item blocking the ramp path. Remove it only if you can do so without putting your hands near hinges, pinch points, or a moving mechanism. If access is unsafe or you are unsure, stop.
- Use only the checks explicitly allowed by the matching operator manual. These are not a universal diagnostic procedure.
Do not replace fuses, disconnect wiring, adjust switches, lubricate components, open hydraulic systems, or repeatedly cycle a failing ramp unless the exact manual directs that action. BraunAbility says maintenance and lubrication must follow the manual’s specifications and be performed by an authorized technician. Its commercial resources provide additional manufacturer guidance.
What to do for the symptom you see

Manual backup and override procedures are model-specific
Some BraunAbility ramps have a manual backup or override. For example, the manufacturer’s RA400 product page confirms that this model has a manual override/back-up. That does not establish a procedure for other ramps, and the product page alone is not a step-by-step operating guide.

Use an override only when the exact operator manual for your installed model provides the procedure and safety directions. Do not apply a reset or override instruction found for another model or vehicle conversion. If you cannot verify that an instruction matches your system, leave the ramp where it is, keep people away, and contact a dealer.

When you call, have the model and serial information ready. Describe what happens—no response, partial movement, stuck deployed or stowed, or unusual noise—and identify the vehicle or conversion. That gives the dealer the information needed to locate the correct manual and assess the fault.
