A Home Depot category listing showed two full-size top-load candidates: the 4.0 cu. ft. Hotpoint HTW265ASWWW at $479 and the 3.8 cu. ft. Amana NTW4519JW at $499. Choose the right washer type first
Full-size top-load washers
The Hotpoint and Amana examples are the closest fit for shoppers replacing a conventional household washer and prioritizing a larger stated capacity. Confirm that the exact model fits the laundry space and that the home has the water connections and drain arrangement required by its instructions. A category listing alone cannot determine whether it will fit a particular installation.

Compact and portable washers
Portable models may suit locations where a conventional washer cannot be installed, but capacities vary widely. A 0.9 or 2.0 cu. ft. listing should not be compared as though it offers the same load capacity as a 3.8 or 4.0 cu. ft. full-size machine. Before buying for an apartment, dorm, or RV, check the manufacturer’s instructions for water hookup, drainage, required clearances, and whether the machine is automatic or semi-automatic. Do not assume that “portable” means it will work with every sink or drain.
How to compare candidates before buying
- Match capacity to your laundry needs. Use the stated cubic-foot figure to distinguish full-size from compact options, while recognizing that the figures in these listings do not establish equivalent load handling across categories.
- Measure the installation location. Look up the exact model’s dimensions and compare them with available width, depth, height, doorways, and clearance. The category search results do not provide enough information to confirm fit.
- Verify hookups and operation. Read the model’s manufacturer instructions for water supply, drainage, and automatic or semi-automatic operation. Check that these requirements work in the intended room and comply with any building or lease restrictions.
- Recheck the live offer. Confirm exact model number, current price, stock, delivery terms, and any installation conditions at the retailer before purchase. Listing prices can change.
- Use reviews cautiously. Retailer star ratings and review counts are not comparative laboratory tests or proof of long-term reliability.
What the available comparisons do—and do not—show
