For most buyers, “nickel” in a freestanding bathtub listing refers to the faucet, drain, overflow, or other hardware—not the tub shell. The documented acrylic examples below offer brushed-nickel hardware options; a separate, specialist category uses nickel-plated copper and brass. There is no independently tested overall winner here, so the useful comparison is the published size, immersion depth, material, and hardware configuration. No hands-on testing was performed.
First, identify what “nickel” means
In many listings, brushed nickel describes a faucet, filler, drain, overflow cover, or trim on a white freestanding tub. It does not mean the tub itself is made of nickel or has a nickel-plated shell. For example, Acritec lists brushed-nickel hardware options for its acrylic Tours and Catalina tubs, while an American Standard Cadet catalog entry specifies a brushed-nickel drain/overflow and describes a brushed-nickel filler and hand shower. The specifications below are manufacturer or catalog figures, not independent measurements. “Nickel” describes hardware on the acrylic examples and the bath finish on the metal collection.

Retail search pages also show how the terminology varies: Home Depot listings include examples such as the ANZZI Vault at 59 × 30 inches and MAAX Suna/Emica at 58 × 32 inches, with listing details identifying material and faucet mount. Those are retailer examples, not a stable or complete comparison of current model bundles or availability. How to choose the right tub for your bathroom
Check the footprint and bathing depth
Compare the tub’s outside length and width with the room, doorway, and planned clearances; then compare immersion depth with the bathing experience you want. The Tours is the largest documented example here by length and lists a 16-inch immersion depth. The Catalina is wider than the Tours but shorter, with a published 15.25-inch immersion depth. Manufacturer dimensions help narrow choices, but verify the exact model drawing and installation clearances before ordering.

Choose shell material separately from finish
The Tours, Catalina, and Cadet examples are acrylic tubs with reinforcement materials specified by their manufacturers or catalog. The Catchpole & Rye collection is a copper-and-brass bath with nickel plating. These are materially different products, so do not compare them as if nickel were simply another acrylic color. The cited pages do not establish comparable durability or corrosion-resistance test results.
Match faucet mount and included components
Freestanding tubs may be paired with a freestanding floor filler, a deck-mounted faucet, or hardware mounted to the tub, depending on model design. The Catalina page lists deck-mount faucet compatibility; retailer pages can vary by model and configuration. Check whether the faucet, drain, overflow, hand shower, and other hardware are included or sold separately. Confirm that a chosen drain or overflow kit is compatible with the exact tub model before purchase.

Verify installation, warranty, and care details
Before selecting a model, obtain its installation instructions, warranty terms, and care guidance from the manufacturer. The cited pages do not provide a consistent set of installation requirements, warranty details, or care standards across these tubs and finishes. Plan around the actual bathroom conditions and the manufacturer’s instructions rather than assuming all freestanding tubs install or clean the same way.
