The Holmes manuals document two quartz tower heaters: the HQH307, identified as an infrared quartz tower heater, and the HQH341-HD, identified as a quartz tower heater with manual controls. Both have 750 W and 1500 W settings, a thermostat, and manufacturer-described overheat and tip-over shutdown. The available documentation does not establish a performance winner or confirm that either model is currently for sale. The practical choice depends on finding the exact model in suitable condition and checking its controls, price, and safety instructions.
Which Holmes quartz heaters are documented?
Holmes’ official instruction-manuals index lists the HQH307 and HQH341-HD. A manual listing confirms that documentation exists; it does not show whether a heater remains in production or available from a seller.
| Model | How Holmes identifies it | Documented features | Not established by the manuals |
|---|---|---|---|
| HQH307 | Infrared quartz tower heater | 750 W low and 1500 W high settings; thermostat; manufacturer-described automatic overheat and tip-over shutdown | Current availability or price, independent heating performance, noise comparison, and suitability for a particular room size |
| HQH341-HD | Quartz tower heater with manual controls | 750 W low and 1500 W high settings; thermostat; manufacturer-described automatic overheat and tip-over shutdown | Current availability or price, independent heating performance, and performance differences from the HQH307 |
The two owner’s guides give the same stated electrical supply and output settings. They are operating instructions, not comparative tests, so they do not establish which heater warms a room faster, costs less to run, lasts longer, or offers better value. See the HQH307 owner’s guide and HQH341 owner’s guide.
How should you choose between them?
Do not choose on the assumption that one model has stronger heating performance. Start by checking the model number on the heater and matching it to the listing and its manual. Then assess the unit’s condition, the seller’s stated warranty, the current price, and which model’s controls suit you. The manual describes the HQH341-HD as having manual controls; the documentation supplied here does not establish a meaningful control advantage over the HQH307.

- If considering an HQH307, confirm the listing and heater both identify that exact model; the documented description is “Infrared Quartz Tower Heater.”
- If considering an HQH341-HD, verify the “-HD” suffix rather than assuming a listing for HQH341 is necessarily the same model.
- Review the specific model’s guide before operating it, especially if the heater is used, has been moved, or has missing labels or instructions.
- Do not infer present-day stock, pricing, warranty coverage, or performance from the existence of an official manual.
What the HQH307 manual says about power and controls
The 2013 HQH307 owner’s guide specifies 120 V AC at 60 Hz, 12.5 A, and a maximum output of 1500 W with the guide’s stated tolerance. Its selector provides continuous 750 W low and 1500 W high settings. The thermostat is adjusted after the room warms; it then cycles the heater on and off to maintain the selected level. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of room heating.
Holmes describes the HQH307’s MaxFlow system as a top-mounted fan and internal shroud. That is the manufacturer’s description; it does not establish coverage for a particular room size. The guide also notes that vibration or noise from the grill and quartz tubes may occur during warm-up and should subside as the element warms. This note is not assurance that every sound or unusual operation is normal, and the guide says not to attempt user repair.

What the HQH341-HD manual documents
The 2013 HQH341 owner’s guide specifies 120 V AC at 60 Hz, 12.5 A, 750 W low and 1500 W high settings, and a thermostat. It describes automatic overheat and tip-over shutdown. The guide warns that the front grill becomes hot during operation and gives clearance and direct-wall-outlet precautions. It does not document a measurable performance advantage over the HQH307.
Where and how should a quartz tower heater be used?
Follow the guide for the exact model in hand. For the HQH307, Holmes specifies at least 3 feet (0.9 m) between combustibles and the heater’s front, with combustible materials also kept away from the sides and rear. Its guide says the unit is for floor use only, not for soft surfaces that could obstruct openings, and not for bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar locations.

- Plug it directly into a wall receptacle. Holmes’ HQH307 guide says: “Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/ receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).”
- Unplug the heater when it is not in use.
- Stop using it if the cord or plug is damaged, or if the plug or outlet becomes hot; follow the manufacturer’s service guidance.
- Do not treat overheat or tip-over shutoff as a guarantee against fire or injury. Keep the required clearances and follow all operating precautions.
What to do if it shuts off or makes noise
The HQH307 guide includes a model-specific overheat reset procedure and says tip-over shutdown may activate if the heater is moved or bumped. Use the reset instructions only for the model they cover; do not transfer them to another heater. If shutdown recurs, the unit is damaged, or a plug or outlet is hot, stop using it and consult the applicable manufacturer guidance instead of repeatedly resetting or opening the heater.
For the HQH307, some grill or quartz-tube vibration during warm-up may cease once the element warms, according to the manual. Persistent, worsening, or otherwise concerning noise is not established as safe by that note. Do not attempt to repair the heater yourself.
