Choose a Rittal enclosure heater by matching the exact article number to the enclosure’s heat and condensation-control needs, available supply, and installation space—not by choosing the highest wattage. Rittal offers models with and without fans; its published figures vary by model. For temperature regulation, Rittal recommends a thermostat, and for condensation prevention it recommends a hygrostat.

What Rittal enclosure heaters are designed to do

Rittal describes its enclosure heaters as a way to regulate relative humidity and prevent enclosure temperatures from falling below the dew point. The aim is to reduce condensation and its potential consequences, including corrosion and electrical short circuits. This is the manufacturer’s stated intended use, not a guarantee of results in every installation. Rittal’s product page for article 3105.370

Which Rittal heater configurations are available?

Rittal lists enclosure heaters both without a fan and with a fan. The fan-assisted product material covers models with continuous thermal outputs from 235 W to 800 W, depending on the article number. That range alone does not establish that a fan model is better: suitability depends on the enclosure and its installation. Rittal’s fan-assisted enclosure-heater product material

Heaters without a fan

The no-fan range includes multiple output and voltage options. Rittal’s instruction table lists selected models with outputs from 18–20 W through 130–150 W, as well as 230 V models rated up to 800/810 W. These are not interchangeable range-wide specifications: check the entry for the exact article number. The cited instruction table reports continuous output for the no-fan models at an ambient temperature of 10 °C. Rittal instruction table

Heaters with a fan

Fan-assisted models 3105.380–3105.430 have published continuous thermal outputs from 235 W to 800 W, depending on the model. In Rittal’s instruction table, models 3105.380–3105.400 are listed at 230 V, while 3105.410–3105.430 are listed at 115 V. Verify the required voltage and the full specifications for the specific model before ordering or installation. Rittal instruction table

Example specifications: Rittal 3105.370

Article 3105.370 (also styled 3105370 on Rittal’s product page) is one example of a no-fan heater. Rittal lists a continuous thermal output of 130–150 W at 10 °C, a supply range of 110–240 V at 50/60 Hz, IP20 protection, a 4 A pre-fuse, and dimensions of 90 × 180 × 75 mm. These specifications apply to this article, not to all Rittal heaters. Rittal 3105.370 product page

How to choose a model for an enclosure

  1. Define the goal and conditions. Establish the enclosure’s operating conditions and the temperature or humidity-control objective. The cited Rittal materials do not provide a universal wattage calculator, so they do not establish a single output suitable for every enclosure.
  2. Compare the exact model’s output. Use the continuous thermal output shown for the article number you are considering, and retain any stated measurement condition. For the cited no-fan instruction table, output ratings are measured at an ambient temperature of 10 °C.
  3. Check electrical compatibility. Confirm nominal supply voltage and frequency, and the required pre-fuse, against the exact model documentation and the installation’s electrical supply.
  4. Check fit and protection. Confirm dimensions and protection category against the available mounting space and the enclosure’s installation conditions. Do not assume another model in the same range has the same rating or size.
  5. Decide whether a fan is suitable. Compare the model’s output and configuration with the enclosure and installation requirements. Rittal’s product material identifies both configurations but does not declare a universal winner.
  6. Choose a control strategy. Rittal recommends a thermostat for precise temperature control and a hygrostat to regulate heating for condensation prevention. Select control equipment appropriate to the intended operating goal.
  7. Plan distribution in a large enclosure. Rittal says several low-output heaters are best for even heat distribution in larger enclosures; consider this rather than assuming one high-output heater will distribute heat evenly.
  8. Review the installation documents. Check the relevant product instructions, approvals, and applicable local electrical requirements. Manufacturer product data is not a site-specific engineering assessment.
