The best RV dishwasher is the one that fits your space and works with your power, water, and wastewater setup. Most owners are choosing among a tank-fed countertop unit, a portable dishwasher connected to a faucet, or a hard-plumbed installation. None is universally compatible with every trailer or motorhome, so check the exact appliance manual and your RV’s utilities before buying.
Which type of dishwasher works in an RV?
Installation type determines how much space and plumbing work you need. These options are configurations, not a tested ranking of dishwasher performance.

What to check before choosing a model
Measure the full usable space
Measure the footprint and height, then account for door swing, loading clearance, ventilation, and a secure place for the appliance while the RV is moving. For one specific example, HAVA lists its R01 countertop dishwasher at 43 × 43 × 46 cm and says it has a 5 L built-in tank. Those are HAVA’s specifications for that model, not standard dimensions for RV dishwashers. Confirm the current market-specific product details and manual at HAVA’s R01 product page.
Match the power requirements to the RV
Check the exact model’s voltage, current or wattage, plug, and circuit requirements against the RV electrical system and the power source you expect to use. HAVA lists 950 W for the R01 and provides voltage variants for EU/UK and US models; verify which version applies to the product you are considering. Whirlpool’s portable-dishwasher guidance calls for a grounded three-prong outlet. The exact appliance manual and RV setup—not a generic assumption about countertop appliances—should guide the decision.

Confirm the water feed and faucet fit
A tank-fed model avoids a permanent water connection, but it still requires filling and a workable drain. HAVA says the R01 can be filled manually or supplied from a faucet. For a faucet-connected portable dishwasher, Whirlpool’s instructions describe attaching the faucet coupler and running hot water before connecting; consult the instructions for the exact model and confirm that the faucet adapter fits. Plan where wastewater will go
Do not assume a countertop dishwasher connects directly to an RV gray-water system. HAVA says the R01 outlet hose can drain to a sink or bucket, so make sure that route is practical in your layout and that the receiving container or fixture can handle the discharge. For other models, follow the manufacturer’s drainage instructions.

Check capacity and everyday use
Compare the manufacturer’s stated capacity and cycle options with the dishes you expect to wash and the space available to store or operate the unit. HAVA describes the R01’s loading capacity and multiple cycles on its product page; verify the current details for the specific version. No independent comparative performance tests are established here, so there is no evidence-based universal winner for cleaning performance, water use, or energy use.
What the example specifications do—and do not—tell you
The HAVA R01 is a concrete example of a tank-fed countertop configuration: the manufacturer lists dimensions of 43 × 43 × 46 cm, a 5 L tank, manual-fill and faucet-feed options, and 950 W with EU/UK and US voltage variants. The product page also describes its capacity and cycles. Treat these as manufacturer claims for that model, not independent test results or a guarantee that the unit fits or works in a particular RV. Confirm the exact variant, current instructions, and vehicle compatibility before purchase.

A faucet-connected portable setup is a different arrangement: the faucet connection and grounded outlet are part of the installation, and the model’s owner manual determines the applicable details. Winterization instructions are appliance-specific. The PZF560HGWBB use-and-care manual includes a winterization mode for hard-plumbed RV installations. Its procedure instructs the owner to disconnect the RV water supply, purge the water lines, and use RV-rated nontoxic antifreeze in the sequence given in that manual. Do not transfer its button sequence or procedure to another dishwasher; follow the exact appliance manual and the RV manufacturer’s instructions. An older Vesta installation document illustrates why model-specific checks matter: it specifies a solid, level surface, accessible shut-off valves, a 120 V/60 Hz supply, a separate 15 A circuit, and a stated water-pressure range for that model.
