“Under $150” is a moving target: a manufacturer’s listed MSRP, a temporary product-page price, and a retailer’s final checkout total are different things. Check the exact model, seller, shipping or delivery charge, and current stock before deciding.
Which size suits your kitchen?
Choose 0.7 cu. ft. for limited counter space and smaller dishes
Danby’s DBMW0722BBS measures 17.32 in. wide by 12.95 in. deep by 10.20 in. high. Its published interior measures 12.04 in. wide by 11.96 in. deep by 8.11 in. high. Measure both the available counter area and the largest dish you expect to use; cubic-foot capacity alone does not tell you whether a particular plate will fit or rotate freely.
Sharp’s SMC0710BW is another 0.7-cu.-ft. specification comparison. Its dated sheet lists a 10-inch glass Carousel turntable, 700 W, and 11 power levels. Since neither current price nor availability is established by that sheet, treat it as a candidate only after checking a current retailer listing.

Choose 0.9 cu. ft. as a middle-size option
Tom’s Guide lists the BLACK+DECKER EM925AB9 at 0.9 cu. ft., 900 W, six power levels, and a 10.6-inch turntable. Its guide identifies the model as its budget pick and says its alarm is quiet. Those are Tom’s Guide’s editorial selection and observation, not independent findings from this article; verify the price and stock before relying on the “under $100” label.
Choose 1.1 cu. ft. when you need a larger cavity
Chefman’s 1.1-cu.-ft. digital model is listed with one-touch presets, express cook, memory settings, Eco Mode, mute, and a safety lock. The product passage reviewed did not state its wattage, so check the current manual or specification page rather than assuming it matches another model’s output.

Danby’s DBMW1121BBB is also 1.1 cu. ft. and has a documented 900 W output, 10 power levels, and six auto-cook options. Its published specifications make it a useful larger-cavity comparison, but capacity and wattage do not by themselves establish cooking speed or evenness.

Wattage and power levels
The cited specifications range from 700 W for the compact Danby and Sharp models to 900 W for Danby DBMW1121BBB and BLACK+DECKER EM925AB9. Wattage is a useful specification for comparing candidates, but no comparative cooking test is available here. Do not treat a higher number as proof that a model heats every food more evenly or finishes a recipe faster.

Locks and safety details
Both cited Danby models list a child or control lock and a two-step door safety lock. Sharp’s SMC0710BW sheet lists a child safety lock, 120 V / 60 Hz operation, and UL safety compliance. Check the current manual for installation clearances and operating requirements; do not infer the required ventilation space from the exterior dimensions alone.

Review the current warranty document for exclusions and service arrangements before purchase.
How to choose and verify a model before buying
- Measure the counter. Compare the microwave’s outside width, depth, and height with the usable space, then check the manufacturer’s manual for required clearances.
- Check dish fit. Compare published cavity dimensions and turntable diameter with the largest plate or container you use. Allow room for it to rotate.
- Match capacity and controls to your routine. Consider whether a compact cavity is sufficient or whether the larger 1.1-cu.-ft. options better suit your dishes and typical portions. Treat presets, locks, and express controls as convenience features, not performance guarantees.
- Confirm the exact listing. Match the model number, seller, current stock, price, tax, shipping, and delivery charges. A manufacturer MSRP or earlier product-page price may not match the retailer’s total.
- Read the current warranty and manual. Confirm coverage, service method, electrical requirements, and installation clearances for the exact regional model.
Price and availability can change
The listed prices and stock labels above were accessed in 2026 and are snapshots, not promises of current availability. Manufacturer pages are useful for specifications and manufacturer-stated prices; they do not guarantee a retailer’s final price. Sharp’s cited specification sheet dates to 2016, so confirm the model and document still match before treating it as a current purchase option.
