Milwaukee’s lineup covers all four, but they are not interchangeable—and manufacturer product information does not establish one overall winner through independent head-to-head testing.
Choose a Milwaukee nailer by the job
Start with the material and joint, then identify the nail type, gauge, length, head style, and collation your work requires. Match those requirements to the exact model before choosing a battery platform or package.

Framing: Milwaukee M18 FUEL 21-degree nailer
The 2744-20 is the clearest fit for framing among these examples. Milwaukee specifies 2–3½-inch full round-head nails with 20–22-degree collation. Those dimensions and the collation angle are compatibility requirements, not just buying preferences: check the nail package rather than assuming that any framing strip will fit.
Milwaukee says the nailer can fire up to three nails per second with zero ramp-up time. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified comparison with other nailers. Milwaukee’s 2024 Concrete and Fastening Solutions Guide also lists an extended-capacity magazine as an accessory compatible with the 2744.

- Tool is an industry-leading manufacturer of heavy-duty power tools, accessories and hand tools for professional users worldwide.
Check the package and battery
The tool-only model is 2744-20. The kit page lists an M18 XC5.0 battery, charger, accessories, and a bag; confirm the contents of the specific SKU being sold, since tool-only and kit listings differ. If you already own Milwaukee batteries, make sure they are on the M18 platform required by this nailer.
Finish carpentry: 15-gauge finish nailer or 18-gauge brad nailer?
Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL 15 Gauge Finish Nailer, 2839-20, is the finish-nailer example; its 15-gauge fastener is distinct from the smaller 18-gauge brads used by the M12 FUEL Compact Brad Nailer, 2541-20. Gauge alone does not settle the choice: check the required nail length and the joint or trim application, then confirm the exact tool’s compatibility details.
The 2541-20 is specified for 5/8–1½-inch brads and belongs to the M12 platform. Choose it when those brad dimensions and the platform suit the project; do not treat it as a framing or general-purpose replacement for a larger finish nailer.

Delicate trim: the 23-gauge pin nailer
The M12 23 Gauge Pin Nailer, 2540-20, fills a more specialized role for delicate trim assembly. Pins leave a small entry point, but the small fastener may not supply the holding strength a joint needs. Confirm pin length and consider the joint’s fastening requirements before choosing it. Milwaukee’s announcement describes hardwood use as an intended capability; that is manufacturer information, not independent testing.
What to verify before purchasing
- Fastener: Match the model’s gauge or nail type, length, head style, and collation angle to the fasteners you plan to use.
- Task: Pick the nailer category for the work—framing, finish, brad, or pin—rather than comparing unlike tools as if they were alternatives for the same job.
- Battery platform: Check whether the model uses M18 or M12 and whether your batteries are compatible.
- SKU and contents: Distinguish a tool-only listing from a kit, and verify the included battery, charger, and accessories on the exact package.
- Price and availability: Check current retailer listings; prices and stock are not established here.
Milwaukee’s official product pages and announcements describe specifications and intended uses, but they do not provide independent comparative testing across these nailers. There is therefore no evidence-based overall winner across different tasks; the practical choice depends on the fastener and work you need to do.
