For thin, separate hot-pot slices at home, look first at a manual frozen-meat slicer—but buy only when the exact model’s instructions permit your meat’s starting condition and portion size. A product described as a frozen-meat slicer is not automatically suitable for every frozen block, and a commercial slicer may be far more machine than a household needs.
What makes a slicer suitable for hot pot?
Hot pot and shabu-shabu call for thin portions that can be handled individually. The useful category to investigate is a manual frozen-meat slicer, but category labels alone do not establish what a particular machine can safely cut. Check the manual for allowed food condition, dimensions, holding method, slice adjustment, and cleanup procedure.
Start with the meat and portion shape you actually plan to prepare. Confirm whether the meat must be boneless, whether the piece fits the holder, and whether the instructions allow it frozen, partially frozen, or merely firm and chilled. A general-purpose slicer that cuts meat is not necessarily designed to make thin, separate hot-pot slices.
What to compare before buying
- Food-state compatibility: Look for explicit instructions on whether meat may be frozen, partially frozen, or firm but not thoroughly frozen. Do not apply one brand’s preparation directions to another model.
- Holding and control: Check for a food holder or grip, stable mounting, a carriage or guard, and clear instructions for safely handling the final small piece.
- Slice adjustment: Prefer a documented thickness range or indexing detail. An advertised minimum is a specification, not proof of the result in everyday use.
- Capacity and workflow: Confirm the permitted food dimensions and consider assembly, storage, batch size, and the effort required to clean the machine.
- Cleaning and service: Review which components can be removed, how the manufacturer directs cleaning, whether replacement parts are available, and how service is handled.
A commercial benchmark: Globe S213-FRZN
Globe markets its S213-16/S213-FRZN manual slicer for thin cuts of frozen or partially frozen meat used for hot pot, sukiyaki, and shabu-shabu. The manufacturer describes it as “specifically for slicing frozen meat”; that is a manufacturer description, not an independent performance finding. Its product page lists a 13-inch double-serrated carbon-steel knife, a meat grip, a 50-degree gravity-feed carriage, removable upper carriage, and indexing up to 1/8 inch.

| Manufacturer-stated detail | Globe S213-16/S213-FRZN |
|---|---|
| Application and permitted meat condition | Hot pot and similar thin-slice uses; frozen or partially frozen meat |
| Knife | 13-inch double-serrated carbon-steel knife |

| Thickness indexing | Up to 1/8 inch |
| Warranty | Two-year parts-and-labor warranty, as stated by Globe |

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Globe describes the machine as intended for busy kitchens and daily production, and routes buyers through dealers or a quote process. That makes it a useful foodservice benchmark, not an automatic household recommendation. Globe also lists an S-Series stainless-steel knife and a slicer sanitation cover; confirm compatibility with the exact unit before buying an accessory or replacement part.
Why a household slicer may need different meat preparation
Do not assume a household electric slicer can cut a fully frozen block. The LEM 1381 7.5-inch Meat Slicer manual says meat intended to be sliced wafer thin should be firm but not thoroughly frozen. It also says food must be thawed and boneless, and requires the assembled sliding carriage and food pusher. These are instructions for that model, not a universal preparation schedule.

- Professional Slicer: The powerful 200-watt meat slicer has enough features and speed to slice a variety of foods. The thickness control knob can adjusts the thickness in the range of about 0-15 mm. The food slicer can makes your work in the kitchen easier
- More Accessories: The blade is one of the core parts of the slicer, so we equipped two stainless steel blades, which are more suitable for slicing different foods. The stainless steel tray fits perfectly with the slicer to hold the sliced food pieces
- Easy to Clean: seamless and removable design make sanitation a breeze. The blade, food carriage, slide-rod extension and food pusher are removable, which allows for thorough cleaning and sanitation
- Safety Protection: Non-slip suction cup feet keep the deli slicer stable while working, and the food pusher also acts as a blade guard to help keep your fingers safe. The on/off switch provides added safety
- Durable and Compact Design: The meat slicer is made from premium-quality die-cast aluminum, which is not only super-durable, but also rustproof and easy to clean. With its compact design, this deli slicer is small enough for most cabinets and countertops
The LEM manual warns users to keep fingers away from the blade and says not to feed food by hand: use its food pusher. For another slicer, follow that model’s own operating instructions rather than borrowing LEM’s directions.
Safe setup, use, and cleaning
- Read the exact manual. Verify permitted meat condition and dimensions, assembly, mounting, blade handling, and cleaning steps before preparing food.
- Set up a controlled workflow. Arrange the incoming meat, slicer, and a clean receiving container so cut food can be collected without reaching across the blade.
- Use the specified holder and guard. Keep hands away from the blade, use the carriage, grip, or pusher provided, and do not force food through a resistant mechanism.
- Stop when the remaining piece cannot be held safely. Do not improvise a way to slice a small end piece that no longer fits the machine’s holder.
- Clean and maintain as directed. Follow the manufacturer’s disassembly and cleaning instructions, and attend to worn or damaged components.
The U.S. FDA’s Commercial Deli Slicer Inspection Tips for Food Safety Professionals says mechanical deli slicers in retail and foodservice “may become difficult or impossible to adequately clean and sanitize” after use as soil and microorganisms accumulate in hard-to-clean areas. The FDA also highlights degraded seams, seals, and gaskets. Its guidance concerns commercial deli slicers; it supports paying attention to cleaning access and maintenance, not a claim that every home slicer has the same design or risk.

What to know about household model recommendations
Consumer model names such as Befen B07BPVKK5H and ZOMAT B0GDRK1LQ6 appear in a documentation-based hot-pot slicer guide, but current listing status and complete manuals are not established here. That is not enough to endorse either model. Before choosing a marketplace product, verify the listing’s exact model identity and find manufacturer documentation covering food condition, dimensions, holder, and cleaning.
A separate retailer page for a manual frozen-meat slicer claims a 0.2–3.5 mm adjustment range and says its tool cannot cut bones. Treat those as that listing’s claims, not as verified specifications for other slicers or a recommendation for any particular model. The page is Tool.com’s manual frozen meat slicer listing.
