Amana’s current comparison chart lists three washers worth comparing: two top-load models and one front-load model. The right fit depends on capacity, loading format, cycle options and laundry-room layout—not on a proven performance ranking. Amana’s published information supports a specification-based shortlist, but does not establish which model cleans best or lasts longest.

Which Amana top-load washer is the better fit?
Choose NTW4516FW for a simpler feature set
The 3.5-cu.-ft. NTW4516FW combines a dual-action agitator, porcelain tub, eight cycles, a deep-water wash option and a late lid lock. Amana describes the agitator as optimizing rollover for cleaning and says the deep-water option adds water for the load; those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test results. This model is a reasonable specification match if you want a top-loader and do not need the extra listed capacity or cycle count of the NTW4519JW.

Choose NTW4519JW for more listed top-load options
Among these two top-load models, the 3.8-cu.-ft. NTW4519JW has the greater stated capacity and more listed cycles. Its high-efficiency agitator, stainless-steel wash basket, automatic fabric-softener dispenser, quick-wash cycle and deep-water option make it the more feature-rich top-load choice in this comparison. That distinction is about specifications, not a verified advantage in cleaning results.
When does the NFW5800HW front-loader make sense?
The 4.3-cu.-ft. NFW5800HW is the only front-load option in this three-model comparison and has the largest stated capacity. Amana lists 14 cycles, four temperature settings, quick wash, presoak and sanitize with Oxi; its chart also shows ENERGY STAR certification, stackability, closet-depth fit and ADA compliance. These labels do not replace checking the dimensions, door swing, hookups, clearances and compatible stacking configuration for your particular laundry space.

Amana says the NFW5800HW’s sanitize cycle with Oxi eliminates 99.9% of the common household bacteria tested, naming K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and S. aureus. This is a manufacturer claim about those named organisms under its stated test context, not a claim about every bacterium, cycle or use condition.
Top-load or front-load: how to decide
Amana’s general guidance says top-load washers are “typically the most affordable” and “often have large capacity options.” It also notes that front-load pairs can be stacked or installed side by side. These are broad manufacturer observations, not guarantees about a specific model’s delivered price, capacity advantage, room fit or total cost.

- Favor a top-loader if you prefer that loading format and one of the two top-load models’ capacity and cycle lists meet your needs.
- Consider the front-loader if you need the largest stated capacity in this shortlist, want the listed sanitize and presoak options, or need the flexibility of a stackable front-load pair.
- Measure before choosing if space is tight: confirm the washer’s dimensions, required clearances, door access and the exact compatible dryer and stacking setup.
What to verify before purchase
The comparison chart helps narrow the shortlist, but it cannot establish your final purchase cost or fit. Before ordering, confirm the exact model and current local terms with the seller.
- Check live price, stock, delivery charges, installation availability, haul-away terms and return conditions.
- Measure the route into the laundry area as well as the installed space, including hoses, door swing and service clearances.
- For a stacked installation, verify the required stacking kit and compatible dryer configuration rather than assuming any pair will fit.
- Confirm water-supply, drain and electrical requirements for the specific model and your home; check hose compatibility with your connections.
Care note for the NFW5800HW
Amana’s product page says to run the NFW5800HW’s Clean Washer with affresh cycle every 30 washes, using an affresh washer-cleaner tablet or liquid chlorine bleach. Follow the model’s manual for the exact cleaning procedure and safety directions. Amana provides washer support links for troubleshooting, manuals, parts and service information.

What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The listed capacity, format and features make a practical buying comparison possible, but the cited Amana sources do not provide independent side-by-side cleaning tests, reliability rates, repair rates or representative owner-satisfaction figures. Specifications alone cannot establish which washer performs best over time. Treat the shortlist as a way to match a model to your requirements, not as an independently verified ranking.
