There is no evidence here of a controlled 2019 test that establishes one Dolmar chainsaw as the overall winner. The documented models instead fit different engine classes and workloads: the PS-421 is the smaller 42.4 cc option, the PS-5105 is a 50 cc mid-range saw, and the PS-6100 is a larger 61 cc model. Choose by the work you do, the saw’s weight and bar options, your experience, and access to compatible parts—not by an unsupported universal ranking.
What the available 2019 reviews can—and cannot—tell you
A secondary review index lists PS-6100 review entries dated 7 March 2019 and 17 December 2019, but it does not establish that the entries used a shared scoring method or formed part of a head-to-head test. Its ratings should not be combined into a comparative score or treated as a 2019 test result. Review index
A separate index identifies KWF report links for the PS-420, PS-4600, PS-5000, PS-5105 and PS-6100. It describes reports that address technical measures such as power, torque, consumption, sound, vibration, handling and maintenance. The underlying report contents are not available here, so those measures cannot be used to rank these saws. KWF report index
The specifications below come from model references, a hosted technical-specification page, a catalog copy and an operator manual—not a uniform independent test. They do not establish real-world starting effort, balance, cutting speed, vibration, reliability or value across the lineup.

How the three models compare on documented specifications
| Model | Documented engine and power | Weight and basis | Bar information | Documented positioning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dolmar PS-421 | 42.4 cc two-stroke; 2.95 hp, according to a repair reference | 10.8 lb; measurement basis not stated in the reference | 16-inch bar; 3/8-inch chain pitch, according to the reference | Described by the repair reference as commercial-grade. Its model-number entry says it was superseded by EA4300FRDB. Repair reference |
| Dolmar PS-5105 | 50 cc; 2.8 kW (3.8 hp), according to a technical-specification page | 5.1 kg net weight; the page’s measurement basis beyond “net” is not stated | 16- and 18-inch standard bars; 20-inch optional bar, according to the specification page | A 2014 catalog describes it as a professional mid-range model for forestry, agriculture and tree-service organizations. This is catalog positioning, not a tested performance finding. Technical specifications · 2014 catalog |

These figures use different sources and weight definitions, so they are useful as model-specific reference points, not as a direct weight or performance test. Check the exact regional manual and saw configuration before relying on a specification.
Which Dolmar chainsaw suits your work?
PS-421: a smaller documented engine class
The PS-421 is the lowest-displacement model in this comparison, at 42.4 cc, with a documented 16-inch bar. That makes it the smaller specification-based option among these three—not proof that it is easiest to handle or best for a particular job. The repair reference lists a 0.48 L fuel tank and a 0.28 L oil tank, and identifies EA4300FRDB as the successor model number; it does not establish that the later model is identical to a PS-421 listing. Rank #2
- Husqvarna 445S 18 inch gas powered chainsaw delivers 20% faster cutting for increased efficiency and productivity* — recommended for use with bar lengths between 13 inches (min) and 20 inches (max)
- Effortless Start-Up: Smart Start allows this Husqvarna chainsaw to quickly and easily start up with minimal effort, while the gas chainsaw 18 inch blade has an inertia-activated chain brake to reduce the likelihood of injury due to kickback
- Superior Performance: Chainsaw gas powered with powerful and efficient 50-cc, 3-HP X-Torq engine maximizes power, even at low RPM's while included X-CUT chain delivers long-lasting sharpness and durability, making it a great gift for dad
- Optimized Cooling and Handling: Gas chain saw with reinforced, patented crankcase design that enhances cooling performance while slim-body design provides easier handling. This chainsaw is suitable as a gift for men who often work outdoors
- Comfortable Handling: Featuring LowVib technology that uses dampeners between the engine and chassis to reduce in-hand vibrations. These chainsaws make great Father's Day gifts
PS-5105: a 50 cc mid-range option
The PS-5105 sits between the other two by listed displacement and has standard 16- and 18-inch bars, with a 20-inch option in the technical specification. The 2014 catalog’s forestry, agriculture and tree-service description indicates intended market positioning; it should not be read as a claim about measured cutting performance. Confirm that a particular saw is configured for the bar you intend to use. Technical specifications · 2014 catalog
PS-6100: larger capacity with a serious safety warning
The PS-6100 has the largest listed engine here, at 61 cc, and the manual gives a range of cut lengths up to 24 inches. Larger displacement or a longer bar is not an automatic reason to choose it: the manual warns that the saw can cause severe kickback and says it is intended for exceptional cutting needs, experience and specialized training. Anyone without suitable experience should not treat it as a routine step up. Read the exact operator manual and obtain qualified training before operating it. Operator’s and Safety Manual

What to check before choosing or buying
- Match the saw to the workload. Consider the type and size of the wood and how often you will use the saw. The available sources do not provide comparable cutting tests to translate engine size into a reliable ranking.
- Check the complete configuration. Confirm the model variant, bar length, chain specification and weight basis against the saw’s identification and regional documentation. A listed bar option does not establish that every bar or chain will fit every variant.
- Verify local parts and service support. The sources do not establish present-day availability of new saws, replacement parts or service. Check with a qualified local dealer or service provider before committing to an older model.
- Use the exact manual for maintenance and fuel. The PS-6100 manual lists a 50:1 fuel-to-oil ratio for specified oil types, names an NGK BPMR 7A spark plug, and says fuels with more than 10% ethanol are not approved for its two-stroke engine. These instructions apply to that manual’s model, not automatically to other Dolmar saws. Operator’s and Safety Manual
Verdict: choose by fit, not by an unsupported winner
On documented specifications alone, the PS-421 is the smaller option, the PS-5105 occupies the 50 cc middle class, and the PS-6100 is the largest of the three. The available material does not support naming a best Dolmar chainsaw for every user or claiming that one won a 2019 comparative test. Let workload, acceptable weight, suitable bar length, experience and verified local support determine the choice.
