Prepara cherry pitter

Apple corers
Lee Valley EV525
Lee Valley describes a stainless-steel blade that retains the removed core and a thumb lever to release it. The listing says it is top-rack dishwasher-safe. A core-release lever may be useful if you want to clear the tool without pulling the core off by hand. Lee Valley product details.

ZWILLING apple corer
ZWILLING lists an 18/10 stainless-steel apple corer and says it is dishwasher-safe. Compare its straightforward coring design with a model that has a dedicated core-release mechanism if clearing the blade matters to you. ZWILLING product details.
For larger batches of cherries
Norpro’s catalog describes a deluxe cherry pitter with a suction base, feed tray, and catch hopper for batch preparation. Those features suggest a different workflow from a handheld tool, but the catalog publication date is unclear. Verify that the model and specifications are current before choosing it. How to choose and use one
- Match the tool to the fruit. Check whether the listing names cherries, olives, cured olives, or strawberries; do not assume one model supports all of them.
- Consider how much you prepare. A handheld tool may be practical for occasional use. For a larger batch, consider whether a stable base, feed tray, and catcher would make the workflow easier.
- Look at where the pit or core goes. A shield or catching chamber can help contain removed material, while some designs retain an apple core for release with a lever.
- Plan for splashes. Even with a shield, follow the tool’s instructions. Joseph Joseph specifically recommends chilling fruit and working over a deep bowl or sink because juice may splatter.
- Check cleaning directions before buying. OXO and Dreamfarm list dishwasher-safe care; Lee Valley specifies top-rack dishwasher use; Joseph Joseph says to wipe Tweezy with a damp cloth. Follow the instructions for your exact model.
- Think about storage. If drawer space is limited, a strawberry huller-pitter combination may replace separate tools, provided its fruit limits and cleaning routine fit your needs.
