1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you need heat away from an outlet, the products supported by current manufacturer specifications here are battery-assisted propane heaters: propane produces the heat, while an 18V battery powers the unit. They are not battery-only electric room heaters, and “anywhere” is not a safe assumption for a fuel-burning appliance. SIP lists two FIREBALL models for construction and on-site work, garages, workshops, warehouses and sheds; the current manual’s location and ventilation rules must determine whether either is suitable for your space.
What “cordless” means for these heaters
The SIP FIREBALL 515 and FIREBALL 1050 use propane as fuel and an 18V battery for operation. That can make them useful where mains power is unavailable, but they still need a propane supply and the safe operating conditions specified by the manufacturer. Their output, fuel consumption and runtime figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. See the FIREBALL 515 specifications and FIREBALL 1050 specifications.
Compare the two documented SIP options
| Specification | SIP FIREBALL 515 (09269) | SIP FIREBALL 1050 (09279) |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer-stated heat output | 51,182 BTU/hr (15 kW) | 102,364 BTU/hr (30 kW) |
| Approximate coverage | 345 m³ | 500 m³; the manufacturer page’s overview and specification table differ on the additional cubic-foot figure, so confirm the current manual before relying on an imperial volume. |
| Battery | 18V DC, 5.2Ah lithium | 18V DC, 5.2Ah lithium |
| Stated continuous runtime | Up to 8 hours on one charge | Up to 6 hours |
| Average propane consumption | 1.09 kg/hour | 2.18 kg/hour |
| Included accessories | Gas hose, regulator, battery and charger | Gas hose, regulator, battery and charger |
| Manufacturer-listed applications | On-site and construction use; garages, workshops, warehouses and sheds | On-site and construction use; garages, workshops, warehouses and sheds |
All figures and included-item details are manufacturer-stated. Actual runtime and heating performance can depend on conditions and setup; the figures are not a guarantee for a particular jobsite.
Choose the FIREBALL 515 for lower stated fuel use
The 515 has lower listed output and consumes an average 1.09 kg of propane per hour, half the 1050’s stated 2.18 kg/hour. SIP lists up to eight hours of continuous battery runtime, two hours longer than its larger model. Consider it when its stated output and coverage suit the space and reducing propane logistics matters more than maximizing output.

- Emits 4,000 or 9,000 BTU/hr radiant heat
- Designed and approved for indoor and outdoor use
- Heats up to approximately 225 square feet
- Features emergency low oxygen safety system
- 2 temperature settings: low and high
Choose the FIREBALL 1050 when the higher listed output fits the need
The 1050’s manufacturer-stated output is 30 kW, compared with 15 kW for the 515, and its approximate coverage is listed as 500 m³. It uses propane at a stated average 2.18 kg/hour and has up to six hours’ stated continuous runtime. Plan for the greater fuel consumption and confirm the intended space and operating conditions in the current manual.
How to decide whether a cordless propane heater fits your work
- Start with the location. These models are presented for construction and on-site use and utility spaces, not as unrestricted heaters for occupied rooms. Read the exact model’s current manual for permitted locations, ventilation, clearances and operating instructions.
- Plan the fuel supply. Estimate propane needs using the manufacturer’s average consumption figure, then account for the cylinder, safe transport, changeovers and the time the heater will run.
- Match the job to stated output and coverage. Use the manufacturer’s figures as specifications, not a promise that the heater will warm a particular space to a target temperature.
- Check what is in the box. Both listed models include a hose, regulator, battery and charger. SIP also lists optional additional battery PW25-00013 for FIREBALL models; reconfirm compatibility and availability before relying on a spare battery.
- Confirm portability and service details. Compare the unit’s weight, the practical movement of a propane cylinder, replacement-battery availability and any certification shown for the exact model. Do not infer certification from a general product category or a marketplace image.
Safety checks before buying or operating
Follow the manufacturer’s location and operating rules
A fuel-burning heater is not suitable for every indoor or enclosed space. Use it only in locations permitted by the current model-specific manual, and follow its ventilation and clearance instructions. The product descriptions’ mentions of garages, workshops, warehouses and sheds do not replace those instructions.

Keep combustibles clear and handle refueling safely
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advises: “Keep portable heaters at least three feet away from drapes, furniture, bedding and other combustible materials to prevent fires.” CPSC also says to turn fuel-burning portable heaters off and let them cool before refueling. Its separate instruction to plug electric space heaters directly into a wall outlet—not an extension cord or power strip—applies to electric heaters, not these propane models. CPSC’s January 23, 2026 guidance estimates an annual average of 1,600 portable-heater fires, 70 deaths and 150 injuries in the United States during 2020–2022; these are agency estimates for that period, not a forecast of an individual heater’s risk. Read the CPSC winter heater safety guidance.
Check the exact model against current recalls
On April 3, 2025, CPSC announced a recall of DEWALT model DXH70CFAVX, a 70,000 BTU outdoor portable cordless forced-air propane heater. Its notice says start instructions could prevent the fan from starting, creating overheating and fire or burn hazards; the firm had received 11 overheating reports. CPSC told owners to stop using the heater and contact Enerco for corrected instructions and a warning sticker. This notice is for the named DEWALT model, not the SIP FIREBALL models. Check the current CPSC recall notice and the model number on any heater you own or plan to buy.

Verify certification for the particular heater
UL 1278 covers movable and wall- or ceiling-hung electric room heaters; UL lists a revision dated May 29, 2025. That electric-heater standard does not establish certification for a propane heater, and the existence of a standard does not prove any specific product is certified. Check the exact model in the relevant certifier’s directory rather than relying on a logo in a listing photo. UL’s UL 1278 listing and the CPSC staff’s 2023 assessment of portable electric heaters provide context: the staff report describes 61 portable-electric-heater recalls from 1980–2022 involving over 11 million heaters, a historical total rather than a current annual rate.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When an electric room heater is the better match
If you need heat in an occupied home room and want an appliance that runs on electricity rather than propane, do not treat a battery-assisted propane heater as an equivalent. The product specifications here do not establish a battery-only electric room-heater alternative. For an electric heater, verify the specific model’s intended use and certification; UL 1278 is a standard for movable and wall- or ceiling-hung electric room heaters, but a standard listing alone does not certify a particular product.
