Repairs to classrooms at Ardmore High School were nearing completion as of October 5, 2026, but the final work had not yet been confirmed finished. Superintendent Andy Davis estimated that crews needed about two more weeks to complete remaining installations and move teachers’ furniture back. Students had returned to campus in April; that earlier return did not mean the damaged classrooms were ready.
What is the latest repair status?
KXII reported on October 5, 2026, that crews were finishing classroom repairs. Davis’s estimate of about two more weeks was a forecast, not confirmation of a completed project or a verified reopening date for every affected room. The remaining work included hanging smartboards, completing electrical work and internet cabling, and returning teachers’ furniture to the classrooms. KXII’s October 5 report described the work in progress.
The affected classes had been spread across campus as the school year began. KXII reported they could return to their normal schedule after fall break, but its October update did not independently confirm when each room reopened.
What caused the damage?
In this case, “spring flooding” refers to water damage from a mechanical failure, not a reported weather-related flood. A line in the school’s heating and cooling system melted in March, allowing water to damage carpets, walls, and ceilings in the history wing. Earlier coverage reported a second leak six days after the first; nine classrooms were affected. KXII’s reporting described the leaks and classroom impacts.

Why the April return did not mean repairs were complete
The district’s April return-to-campus milestones were separate from the longer classroom reconstruction. Ardmore City Schools said staff would return April 27 and students April 29, 2026. KXII reported that students did return April 29 after more than a month of virtual learning, while repairs to the affected rooms continued. The return meant classes resumed on campus, not that all nine classrooms were ready for normal use.
On April 16, the district said parts had arrived, installation was underway, demolition was complete, and reconstruction would continue into summer. On April 23, it expected air-conditioning work to wrap up that week ahead of the staff and student returns. These milestones describe progress and campus reopening, not completion of the classroom rebuild.

What the classroom repair work included
A ConstructConnect project listing describes work in rooms 56–59 and 63–68, including replacement of ceiling grid and acoustic tile, soundboard and drywall, painting, flooring and cove base, cabinetry, and related finishing. It states that electrical outlets and data cabling were to be completed outside the main project by skilled trades.
The listing reports that Thompson General Contracting LLC received the work for $295,585.53. That is the amount reported by the secondary project listing, not a price independently confirmed by the school district. The June 25 school board agenda included consideration of bids for damage repair caused by geothermal failure. KXII reported in April that the board had not approved an emergency bid waiver, so the district proceeded through a bid process.

Repair timeline
