As of October 7, 2026, the official records available here do not confirm that hotel construction is underway at Harbor Point in Utica. City planning materials describe a proposal for two hotels, but the latest detailed site-plan record located is dated April 17, 2025. No verified opening date or reservation availability appears in those records.
Are the Harbor Point hotels under construction?
That has not been confirmed by the dated City and agency records cited here. The records establish that hotel proposals have been considered and processed; they are not a report of active work at the site. The latest detailed proposal located is the Utica Planning Board’s April 17, 2025 material. The Utica Industrial Development Agency lists project entries and document categories, but its listings do not verify on-site progress or an opening schedule.
Accordingly, the hotels should be described as proposed, not as under construction. A current City or developer update would be needed to establish whether work has since begun.
What hotels are planned for Harbor Point?
The Agency’s project listings use the names “Harbor Point Ventures – Residence Inn” and “Harbor Point Suites – Candlewood Inn,” alongside “Utica Harbor Lodging.” Those entries associate the proposal with Residence Inn and Candlewood Inn, but do not establish final branding, completed hotels, operating status, or booking availability. What does the latest detailed plan show?
Utica Planning Board materials dated April 17, 2025 describe a site-plan proposal with two four-floor hotels: one with 96 rooms and one with 118. The proposal also includes 82 apartments or townhomes and a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse. The hotels are shown toward the harbor, with the residential buildings between them and the Mohawk River. These are figures and layouts in a proposal, not confirmation of final specifications or construction.
A January 2025 City public-hearing notice described an application by Utica Harbor Lodging Group LLC for a lease-leaseback transaction involving about 20 acres at Wells Avenue in Harbor Point. Its proposed scope included two extended-stay hotels of approximately 100 rooms each, parking and infrastructure, and a separate residential component of approximately 82 units. A hearing notice documents an application and proposed scope; it does not establish that the project was built.

Why do earlier project figures differ?
The numbers changed across public descriptions, so they should be read as dated versions of a proposal rather than combined into one final plan.
| Record | Hotel proposal | Residential or other elements |
|---|---|---|
| City preliminary development announcement, December 2023 | Two hotels in an 80-to-100-room range | More than 120 housing units and a 40,000-square-foot entertainment center |
| City public-hearing notice, January 2025 | Two extended-stay hotels of approximately 100 rooms each | Approximately 82 residential units, plus parking and infrastructure; about 20 acres at Wells Avenue |
| Planning Board materials, April 17, 2025 | One 96-room hotel and one 118-room hotel; four floors each | 82 apartments or townhomes and a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse |
Planning materials can evolve as applications are developed and reviewed. The April 2025 plan is the most detailed dated proposal among these records, but it should not be treated as proof that every element received final approval or that construction followed.
