KXII reported that work was scheduled to start October 5, 2026, weather permitting. That date has passed, but the available reports do not confirm that construction actually began then.
Where is the new US 75 construction phase?
The project covers US 75 between FM 1417 and FM 902, connecting the Sherman and Howe areas of Grayson County. The location matters because several unrelated projects in Texas and Oklahoma also use the US 75 name.
KXII reported the October 5, 2026 start as a schedule, not confirmation of a completed start. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) registration lists June 1, 2026 as its project start date; that administrative date is earlier and does not establish when field construction began. Neither date is evidence of current work-zone conditions.
What work is planned?
KXII reported that the segment is planned to expand to six lanes, with two U-turn bridges at FM 1417 and a braided ramp just north of FM 1417. The TDLR registration describes widening and reconstruction of the main lanes and frontage roads, along with pedestrian-accessibility features.

These details describe the planned scope; they do not establish that every element is under construction or complete.
How long could construction take?
Grayson County Precinct One Commissioner Josh Marr told KXII, “It will probably last several years, at least two to three years.” Separately, the TDLR registration lists January 1, 2030 as a completion date. These are different schedule references: Marr’s estimate is a local report, while the registry date is an administrative project record. Neither should be treated as a confirmed opening date.

What does the listed project cost cover?
The TDLR record lists an estimated cost of $522,900 for its registered US 75 accessibility/project scope from FM 902 to FM 1417. That figure is not established as the construction contract price for the full roadway segment, so it should not be read as the total cost of the six-lane expansion.
How this work differs from other US 75 projects
US 75 refers to projects in multiple places. Compare their locations and limits before assuming a schedule, scope, or cost applies to the Sherman–Howe segment.

KXII advised motorists to watch construction signs and slow down in the work zone. Its report does not provide a verified lane-closure or detour schedule for this segment. Check current TxDOT or DriveTexas traffic information before choosing a route; conditions can change, and the reported start date alone does not indicate which lanes, if any, are closed.
