JSW Cement commissioned an additional 1 million-tonne-per-year (MTPA) grinding unit at its Nagaur site on October 6, 2026, according to Dalal Street Investment Journal. The report puts Nagaur’s grinding capacity at 3.50 MTPA after the addition and says JSW Cement’s company-wide grinding capacity rose from 24.1 MTPA to 25.1 MTPA. Grinding capacity is the ability to process clinker and other materials into cement; it is distinct from clinker manufacturing capacity.
What changed at Nagaur
The new line adds 1 MTPA of cement grinding capacity. DSIJ reports that the addition takes Nagaur’s site-level grinding capacity to 3.50 MTPA. This is an expansion of the grinding operation, not a 1 MTPA increase in clinkerisation capacity.
The project followed a staged build-out. When JSW Cement announced production at its first integrated plant in North India on March 19, 2026, it described the Nagaur facility as having a 3.30 MTPA clinkerisation unit and a 2.50 MTPA cement grinding unit. The company said a separate additional 1.00 MTPA grinding unit was under construction at that time. JSW Cement’s March release and its Q3 FY26 investor presentation therefore describe earlier project status; the October 6 date is the commissioning reported later by DSIJ.
Grinding capacity and clinker capacity are different measures
An integrated cement plant can make clinker and then grind it, with other materials, into cement. The two capacities measure different stages of production and should not be added together or compared as if they were interchangeable. Nagaur’s original 3.30 MTPA figure refers to clinkerisation, while its original 2.50 MTPA figure refers to cement grinding.

JSW Cement’s About page states that, as of October 6, 2026, the company had 25.1 MTPA of installed grinding capacity and 9.74 MTPA of installed clinker capacity, including 3.30 MTPA of clinker capacity in North India. The Nagaur addition changes the grinding figure; it does not establish an increase in clinker capacity.
How the addition fits the company-wide figures
DSIJ reports that JSW Cement’s grinding capacity moved from 24.1 MTPA to 25.1 MTPA following the 1 MTPA commissioning. The company’s About page independently lists installed grinding capacity of 25.1 MTPA as of October 6, 2026, distributed regionally as follows:

These regional figures are published by JSW Cement; the 24.1-to-25.1 MTPA change is reported by DSIJ. Capacity describes installed production capability, not actual output. It does not by itself show utilisation, sales, revenue, profitability, cost savings or market share.
Why two published Nagaur and North figures do not match
There is a scope difference that the available company page does not explain: JSW Cement lists North-region grinding capacity at 2.50 MTPA, while DSIJ reports 3.50 MTPA for the Nagaur site after the new line was commissioned. The figures are not interchangeable without knowing how the regional figure is classified or whether it has been updated on the same basis. No explanation for the difference is provided in those pages, so it should not be treated as a confirmed contradiction or reconciled by assumption.
