Connection to the wider Rural and Future programme
The symposium is one part of a three-part Rural and Future Public Programme, alongside an exhibition and a national forum. The programme announcement says the four-year architectural research and design studio “Rural and Future: Voices from Beyond the City | Alternative Ways of Living and Architectures” ran at Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture from 2020 to 2024 and focused on eight rural geographies in Türkiye: Şile, Bandırma, the Menderes Basin, the Harran Plain, the Çoruh Basin, the Taurus Mountains, the Upper Euphrates Basin, and the Lake Van Basin.
The exhibition is described as bringing together projects, drawings, mappings, moving images, and narratives developed through studies of those places. The programme announcement lists an Istanbul exhibition at the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture from 22 September to 17 October 2026, a second exhibition at CerModern in Ankara from 27 October to 21 November 2026, and a national forum at CerModern on 20 November 2026.
