KazTransOil JSC says it has completed two new crude-oil storage tanks at the Kumkol Head Oil Pumping Station (HOPS). Each tank is rated at 10,000 m³, lifting the station’s stated tank-farm capacity from 40,000 to 60,000 m³.
What the Kumkol HOPS project adds
The company’s October 5, 2026 corporate announcement reports completion of vertical steel tanks Nos. 5 and 6. Their combined nominal capacity is 20,000 m³, calculated from the stated 10,000 m³ capacity of each tank. KazTransOil says the added storage expands the station’s operating capability to receive and deliver crude oil.
The announcement describes a storage-capacity addition, not a quantified increase in pipeline throughput, exports, or oil handled. It does not report actual station utilization.

The announcement provides no quantified emissions reduction, test results, safety-performance data, suppliers, standards, or detailed design specifications. It also does not state the project cost, construction start date, acceptance-certificate date, or a separate commissioning date.
How Kumkol HOPS fits into the network
KazTransOil’s 2010 annual report says Kumkol HOPS was launched in December 2010 as part of development of the Kazakhstan–China oil export pipeline system. The report described the station’s role at that time as receiving oil from western Kazakhstan and the Kumkol region through the Kenkiyak–Kumkol pipeline, then sending it onward via the Kumkol–Karakoin pipeline toward the Shymkent refinery and via the Pavlodar–Shymkent main pipeline toward China through Atasu–Alashankou. This is historical context from 2010, not confirmation of the station’s exact current flow pattern.

Do not confuse this with another tank project
Kumkol HOPS is distinct from B. Dzhumagaliev HOPS. A separate KASE disclosure dated December 27, 2023, concerned two 20,000 m³ tanks at B. Dzhumagaliev HOPS and reported a 120,000 m³ total tank-farm capacity there. Those figures and that project do not describe the 2026 Kumkol expansion.
