The Construction Index Magazine’s September 2026 issue is scheduled to feature Top 100 and Steel Construction. Its accessible issue page also includes outgoing editor David Taylor’s account of his career and the handover to Will North. The publisher’s schedule can change, and the accessible page does not expose a complete contents list, so those themes and the introduction are the confirmed details—not a full inventory of articles.

What is The Construction Index Magazine?

The Construction Index is a UK construction trade publication for main contractors, specialist contractors, plant hirers and other organisations across the construction supply chain. The publisher describes its regular coverage as news and analysis, contract leads, market data and intelligence, project reports, plant and equipment, product launches, and interactive content designed for tablets. These are general descriptions of the magazine, not a list of what appears in the September issue. The publisher’s magazine page provides its overview.

What is scheduled for the September 2026 issue?

The publisher’s 2026/2027 forward-features schedule names Top 100 as the September 2026 main feature and Steel Construction as an additional feature. The publisher says the schedule may change at short notice, so these should be treated as planned themes rather than a verified complete contents list. The schedule and magazine overview do not establish which specific rankings, companies, projects or steel-construction articles will appear.

The accessible September 2026 issue page exposes an introduction by David Taylor rather than a complete contents list. It recounts Taylor’s route into construction journalism and records the editorial handover; it does not, in the accessible text, confirm additional issue articles or rankings.

David Taylor’s introduction and the editorial handover

Taylor describes entering the industry from a non-technical background: “At university I studied English and Music, not civil engineering or construction management.” He says he wanted to work in journalism rather than construction, but was asked to write a feature for the new title in 2013 and was invited to edit it soon afterwards. These are details from his first-person introduction on the September issue page.

Taylor writes that he will retire “as soon as this issue of the magazine goes to press.” The introduction identifies Will North as his successor, noting North’s prior work editing The Construction Index’s online news and experience at Cranes Today. Taylor calls him well qualified for the role, citing that experience. The page provides the handover account, though the accessible text does not print a formal job title beside Taylor’s name.

How to interpret the publisher’s audience figures

The 2026 media pack reports several audience measures, but they use different labels and bases. They should not be added together or treated as interchangeable:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • 12,323 digital readership: The Construction Index says this figure is based on users who agreed to share diagnostics and usage information; it says 34% of users agreed to share that data.
  • 5,000 print circulation: a separate figure listed by the publisher.
  • Almost 20,000 circulation excluding “pass on” readership: a distinct circulation description in the media pack. The publisher does not explain enough there to reconcile it with the print figure or the consent-based digital readership figure.

These are publisher-reported figures, not evidence that the measures are independently audited or directly comparable. The 2026 media pack gives the figures and stated qualifications.
