Investing.comâs historical market-data table reports the following figures for Friday, October 2, 2026:

These are figures reported by Investing.com, not an independently calculated exchange settlement. The cited table supports the October 2 close but does not provide the preceding ten months of comparable prices needed to verify a ten-month low.
What the $526.50 quote means
CME quotes lumber futures in U.S. dollars and cents per thousand board feet. So $526.50 is the futures price per mbf, not the price of a single board or a retail lumber price. CMEâs Lumber Futures and Options Fact Card specifies a 27,500-board-foot contract. The card lists a $0.50-per-mbf minimum price fluctuation, equivalent to $13.75 per contract.

CME describes the contract as Random Lengths #2 and Better 2x4s delivered to Chicago; its lumber futures FAQ says it is physically delivered to the Chicago Switching District. Futures contract terms and settlement details can change, so consult CMEâs current specifications for trading or delivery decisions.
Was this a ten-month low?
That comparison is not verified by the cited price history. The Investing.com table available here begins on September 8, 2026, and therefore does not show the full lookback period. A sound comparison would need a comparable historical series and a defined basisâfor example, the November 2026 contract or a continuous front-month series. Until such a series confirms the comparison, the close is best reported as $526.50 without calling it a ten-month low.

What the report says about lumber demand
CME lists roofing, framing, paneling, and plywood among softwood lumberâs primary uses in its Lumber Futures Product Overview. Those uses make lumber relevant to construction, but the available price data and CME materials do not identify why futures declined on October 2. They do not establish that housing activity, construction demand, supply, tariffs, or another factor caused the move.
