Construction has started on Bonava’s 500 rental apartments in Norrbodahöjden, Kungsängen, in Upplands-Bro. The start followed the building permit becoming legally effective. Bonava puts the project’s approximate property value at SEK 1.3 billion.
Where the apartments are being built
The project is in Norrbodahöjden, an area of Kungsängen in Upplands-Bro. Bonava describes the location as having access to shopping, services, nature and public transport; that description comes from the developer, not an independent assessment. Bonava’s construction-start announcement identifies the project as 500 rental apartments.
Who owns and is building the project?
Bonava says it sold the project to Slättö, which will provide financing on an ongoing basis during construction. H2 Entreprenad is the contractor. Bonava says it begins rental-housing projects only after a buyer and contractor have been contracted, aligning the contractor with the design and production requirements. The company says it will report the project as started and sold in the third quarter of 2026.
What is planned for the homes?
In its July 1, 2026 sale announcement, Bonava described slightly more than 500 apartments, with options ranging from studios to four-bedroom units, as well as commercial premises and parking. That earlier announcement does not provide a final unit schedule, and the October construction-start announcement confirms 500 apartments without restating the unit mix or giving counts for commercial space or parking. The earlier description should therefore be treated as an outline, not a confirmed final breakdown.

Energy and sustainability targets
Bonava says the homes are expected to achieve energy class B and meet the requirements for Nordic Swan Ecolabel 4 certification. The company also says materials such as concrete will reduce the project’s climate footprint, but it has not published a quantified reduction for this development. These are stated aims and claims, not independently verified completed-home outcomes.
When will the apartments be ready, and how can people apply?
The two Bonava project announcements reviewed do not state a completion date, rent levels, tenant eligibility rules, application opening date, leasing operator or tenant-facing contact. They also do not say when applications will open. An autumn 2026 construction start alone is not enough to establish a delivery or leasing timetable.
