Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use a pneumatic nailer safely by choosing a full sequential trigger when available, learning the specific tool, protecting yourself and others from the firing path, following the manufacturer’s pressure limits, and disconnecting the air supply before clearing jams or servicing it. The tool manual controls model-specific trigger operation, fasteners, loading, pressure, and maintenance.
1. Choose a full sequential trigger when available
A full sequential trigger requires the nailer’s nose to contact the work before you pull the trigger, and you must release the trigger before the next firing cycle. CDC/NIOSH says, “Using a nail gun with a single shot or full sequential trigger reduces the risk of injury.” Its Nail Gun Safety guidance reports substantial evidence that injury risk is twice as high with contact-actuation, or bump-trigger, nailers as with sequential-actuation tools. OSHA’s nail gun safety overview also summarizes a twofold risk difference.
Trigger labels and mechanisms vary by manufacturer. Check your specific manual to identify how the trigger works; do not assume that every product described as “sequential” has the same firing sequence.
2. Get hands-on training and keep control of the trigger
Before use, learn the particular nailer’s trigger system, loading procedure, operating steps, and how to respond to a malfunction. Follow employer procedures and the manual, and never disable, defeat, or modify a safety feature.

- Maintain control of the tool and point it away from yourself and others.
- Use only the fasteners and loading method specified for that model.
CDC/NIOSH estimates that nail guns are associated with about 37,000 emergency-room visits each year, with 60% work-related, in its page published May 15, 2024 and updated or reviewed December 19, 2023. OSHA gives a similar overall estimate but reports a different worker share; these figures come from separate agency summaries and should not be combined.
3. Wear PPE and stay out of the firing path
Wear safety glasses with side shields and suitable hearing protection. Keep your free hand and body clear of the nailer’s line of fire, and check what is behind and around the work before firing. A nail can pass through the material, ricochet, or send fragments outward; it may also strike a coworker or a hidden hazard beyond the visible work face.

- 2-IN-1 PNEUMATIC BRAD NAILER & STAPLER — Fires both 18GA brad nails (5/8"–2") and 1/4" crown staples (5/8"–1-5/8") with one tool. Quick-swap between nailing and stapling for trim, molding, upholstery, and furniture — no need to own two separate guns.
- 360° EXHAUST & TOOL-FREE JAM CLEAR — Rotatable exhaust directs air and debris away from your workspace and face. When a jam happens, clear it in seconds without tools — no disassembly, no downtime, just fast recovery and back to work.
- USER-FIRST DESIGN — SAFETY & COMFORT — Sequential trigger prevents accidental firing. Transparent magazine window shows remaining fasteners to avoid dry-fire marks on your workpiece. Soft rubber grip and lightweight body keep your hand comfortable through long sessions. Quick-release 100-fastener magazine for fast reloads.
- 1000-PIECE COMPLETE KIT & BMC CASE — Ready to build from day one: includes 400× 2" brad nails, 400× 1-1/4" brad nails, 200× 1-1/4" crown staples, sturdy BMC carrying case, safety glasses, lubricating oil bottle, and 2 Allen wrenches. Everything organized, portable, and job-site ready.
- 60–120 PSI RANGE & 2-YEAR REPLACEMENT WARRANTY — Works with standard air compressors at 60–120 PSI (1/4" NPT inlet) — ideal for woodworking, flooring, picture framing, door/window install, and pet house builds. Backed by NEU MASTER's 2-year warranty: we send new replacements, not repair service. NOTE: Air compressor NOT included.
- Watch for coworkers near the opposite side of the workpiece or in adjacent work areas.
- Be particularly careful when working in awkward positions, where it is harder to maintain control or keep clear of the firing path.
- Do not place a hand where a fastener could emerge if it passes through or deflects from the material.
4. Follow the nailer’s air-pressure and connection limits
There is no single safe PSI for every pneumatic nailer. Use the pressure specified in the manual for your model, and do not exceed the manufacturer’s safe operating pressure for hoses, pipes, valves, filters, or fittings. OSHA’s construction standard, 29 CFR 1926.302(b)(5), states: “The manufacturer’s safe operating pressure for hoses, pipes, valves, filters, and other fittings shall not be exceeded.” The rule also requires a muzzle safety device for covered automatically fed pneumatic nailers operating above 100 psi at the tool, subject to the contact condition in the standard. See 29 CFR 1926.302.
Keep pneumatic connections secure and use components within their rated limits. The OSHA requirement applies to covered U.S. construction work; follow the rules that apply to your job and location as well as the tool maker’s instructions.

- TOOL-LESS DEPTH ADJUSTMENT: Depth adjustment to countersink or flush drive into a variety of materials
5. Disconnect before clearing a jam, servicing, or moving the tool
Air pressure can leave a nailer capable of firing even when you are not actively nailing. Disconnect the air supply before clearing a jam, performing maintenance, or moving the tool between work areas. Then use the manufacturer’s procedure for that model; do not improvise a jam-clearing or service method.
- Stop work and keep the nailer pointed away from people.
- Disconnect the air supply.
- Follow the manual’s instructions to clear the jam or perform the service task.
- Reconnect and resume only as the manual and work procedure direct.
North Carolina Department of Labor’s Pneumatic Nail Gun Safe Work Practices likewise advises disconnecting the gun before maintenance, moving work areas, or clearing jams.
