What does C-21 mean on a Samsung oven?
Samsung India defines C-21 as a temperature-sensor reading higher than the set temperature. In the manual for the NE63A6711SS range, Samsung says the code occurs when the internal temperature rises abnormally high. These descriptions identify a high-temperature condition; they do not, by themselves, establish which part caused it.
Samsung groups C-21 with sensor-related information codes on its UK support page, but code meanings and designs can vary by model. Use the manual for your exact oven rather than assuming every Samsung model reports the same condition in the same way.
What to do when C-21 appears
- Turn the oven off and let it cool. Samsung India recommends allowing the oven to cool before trying the setting again.
- Retry only after cooling. If the code clears and does not return, continue to follow the operating instructions for your model.
- If needed, use the restart or power-reset procedure in your model’s manual. Samsung UK’s general guidance is to turn the oven off and restart it; if the issue continues, switch power off for 30 seconds or more and reconnect. For the NE63A6711SS specifically, Samsung instructs owners to press OFF/CLEAR and restart; if the issue persists, disconnect all power for at least 30 seconds, reconnect, and call for service if that does not resolve it.
- Contact Samsung support or service if C-21 returns or will not clear. Give them the oven’s exact model number and describe when the code appears.
Follow the power-disconnection instructions only if you can do so safely and in accordance with your model’s manual. The UK guidance is general; the NE63A6711SS steps apply to that model, not automatically to other ovens.

Does C-21 mean the temperature sensor has failed?
No. C-21 indicates a high-temperature condition, but the code alone does not confirm a failed sensor. In the NE63A6711SS information-code table, Samsung lists C-20 separately for an open or shorted oven sensor and describes C-21 as abnormally high internal temperature. That distinction is specific to this model and should not be treated as a universal diagnostic across Samsung ovens.
Do not replace a sensor or order a part based only on C-21. A technician can diagnose the cause for the exact model and confirm whether a component needs replacement.

When should you arrange service?
Arrange service if the code appears again after cooling and retrying, remains on the display, or returns after the restart steps in your model’s manual. Samsung’s guidance is to contact customer care or a service centre when the code recurs or cannot be cleared. Check warranty and service eligibility with Samsung for your region before arranging a repair.
The available manufacturer guidance does not establish repair costs, likely success rates, or a universal component-level cause for C-21. Those depend on the oven model and the technician’s diagnosis.
