Yes—but this is a small mechanical game, not a video arcade cabinet. In the design described by Cameron Coward’s 2018-era Hackster article, coins fall through a slot onto a crowded platform while a moving shelf nudges them toward a collection chute. The article describes a frame kit, not a confirmed currently available product, and says the electronics for automatic movement are supplied separately.
How a coin pusher works
The basic play is familiar from arcade coin-pusher machines: a player drops a coin through a slot, and it lands among coins on a platform. A reciprocating shelf advances and retreats, pushing the pile toward an edge. Coins that fall into the retrieval chute are collected by the player. The simple objective is to get more coins out than were put in; that describes the game’s aim, not a measured win rate or promise of a return.
What the described kit includes—and what it does not establish
Coward’s article describes a frame made from laser-cut birch plywood and acrylic. It says the design is intended for pennies, with coins of similar size or smaller suggested for other currencies. It does not give detailed dimensions or verified compatibility for every coin, so a builder should check coin diameter against the layout before cutting or assembling parts.
The article is from the 2018-era project coverage; a related Medium page is dated April 26, 2018. Its description is historical, not confirmation that the original physical kit is still sold. The available description also does not establish a complete, current parts list or exactly what was included in every kit.

Choose how to move the pusher
Hand crank
A hand crank can move the mechanism without electronics. It is the simplest option described for operating the pusher, and it avoids choosing a motor and power supply. The maker’s project repository also lists a hand-crank drive option.
Servo or stepper motor
For automatic movement, the Hackster article gives an Arduino, power supply, and motor as examples of separately supplied electronics. The maker’s CoinPusher version 2 repository describes a standard-size servo or a stepper motor as drive alternatives. It also notes a revised coin-drop area and a code rewrite using interrupts to drive a servo.

Those descriptions identify possible approaches, not a tested comparison of speed, reliability, cost, or performance. Before buying electronics or wiring a build, consult the repository’s bill of materials and electrical diagram for component compatibility and connection details; the brief project descriptions alone are not enough to serve as wiring instructions.
Plan the build around the frame and coin size
Think of this as a small fabrication project: the frame and moving shelf need to fit together, the coin drop must land coins on the platform, and the chute must leave a path for coins to fall out. The source describes laser-cut plywood and acrylic, but does not supply enough dimensions here to reproduce the frame from scratch. A builder needs the project’s actual design files or plans and should verify that the cutting material, layout, and coin diameter match before fabrication.

- The excitement of an arcade right at home. Challenge your friends over and over again.
- Decide on the drive first: a crank avoids motor and control requirements; automatic operation adds electronics and compatibility checks.
- Check coin dimensions: the described layout targets pennies. For another currency, confirm its coin diameter against the design rather than assuming all coins will feed and move properly.
- Review the maker’s build resources: use the project bill of materials and electrical diagram when selecting or connecting a servo, stepper, controller, and power supply.
- Confirm what you are sourcing: a pre-cut frame, laser-cut files, and a physical kit are different things; verify the product and its contents with the seller or maker before relying on availability.
What is known about getting the parts today
The available information does not confirm that the original physical frame kit remains on sale, nor does it establish its current price or full package contents. A search result has shown a RetroBuiltGames marketplace listing for digital laser-cutter vector files for a desktop coin pusher. A digital-file listing is not the same as a pre-cut physical kit, and its present availability and terms should be checked directly before purchase.
For a construction-minded maker, the appeal is the combination of a fabricated frame and a visible mechanical action. But the sources do not report a measured build time, cost, reliability test, or win rate. Treat the project as a mechanism to build and enjoy, not as a quantified game of chance.
