For most home cooks, the OXO Good Grips Large 6.22-Quart is the strongest all-around choice among the options reviewed by Food Network in 2026. It dried greens effectively in that test and is easy to clean, though its thinner plastic parts may be a durability trade-off. The right pick depends on whether you value capacity, compact storage, serving-friendly materials, or a multi-use design more.
How these picks were evaluated
Food Network says it purchased and tested 12 salad spinners, assessing mixed greens and cilantro, mechanism and ease of use, braking, cleaning, trapped food or water, and whether each product delivered on its claims. Its roundup was updated June 3, 2026, and names Taylor Murray as the tester. The five products below are selected from that roundup to represent distinct kitchen needs; Food Network itself named six category winners.
For the OXO Good Grips Large, Murray separately weighed greens after rinsing and spinning, timed visible drying, tested cilantro for bruising, and checked for trapped lettuce or water during cleaning. In her test, two cups of spring mix went from soggy to dry in about 20 seconds, with 17 percent residual moisture. That is one tester’s result under her test conditions, not a standardized performance rating or a guarantee for every batch or spinner.
The five best salad spinners
1. OXO Good Grips Large 6.22-Quart — best overall
Food Network named this large, push-button pump model its best overall. Its 6.22-quart bowl suits larger batches, and the publication reports strong drying performance and easy cleaning. Murray’s test result above gives a concrete example of its performance, but should not be treated as a promise for all greens or conditions.
#1 Best Overall
- One-Touch OXO Salad Spinner: Did you know that OXO invented the one-touch salad spinner? Its one-handed pump gives you maximum drying of lettuce with minimum effort
- What Makes the OXO Salad Spinner OXO Better: This salad spinner has been designed to be the best - from the one-touch press to pump with force to the patented brake to stop the basket immediately with a simple press. And the non-skid base keeps it firmly in place
- Store Salad Spinner Neatly After Use: When you're done using the spinner as a fruit and vegetable cleaner, press the pump handle down, then slide the storage lock into place. This holds the pump flush with the lid for stacking and storing
- Multi-Tasker Not Just For Lettuce: The OXO salad spinner doubles as a vegetable and fruit strainer, and as a serving bowl. Spin lettuce, herbs, beans or fruit. Or use it for meal prep as a lettuce keeper - wash your lettuce before dinner, pop it in the fridge and take it out when ready to serve
- Lid Comes Apart for Easy Clean: The lid comes apart on this salad spinner, so moisture won't build up. All parts are dishwasher safe - top rack is recommended
The main qualification is durability: Food Network notes that some plastic pieces are relatively thin. Choose it for a roomy everyday spinner and straightforward operation, not on the assumption that its plastic parts are especially heavy-duty.
2. Farberware Pro 6.6-Quart — best value
Food Network’s value pick has the largest stated capacity among these five at 6.6 quarts and uses a push-button mechanism. It is a practical fit when batch size and value matter more than a particularly simple cleanup.
Food Network found the lid trickier to clean and also noted thinner plastic. Pay attention to the lid after spinning, since its design may retain water or debris. The source’s category label is a value recommendation, not a guarantee that it is currently the cheapest option; prices and stock change.
Rank #2
- QUICK & CONVENIENT: Wash and spin-dry salad greens, fruits, and vegetables effortlessly with the Cuisinart 3qt Salad Spinner.
- USER FRIENDLY: Easy-to-use spin knob allows for quick and efficient spinning action. Conveniently add and drain water without the need to remove the lid. Securely lock the spinner to ensure a tight closure during operation.
- STABILITY: Non-skid base keeps the bowl stable and prevents any unwanted movement and mess.
- VERSATILITY: Clear base doubles as a serving bowl, adding versatility to your kitchen tools.
- 3 QUART CAPACITY: Perfect size for a small salad or basket of fruit
3. Progressive Prepworks Collapsible 4-Quart — best for tight storage
This 4-quart spinner is designed to collapse for storage, reaching about three inches high, according to Food Network. That makes it the most compelling of these picks when cupboard space is the limiting factor.

Its smaller capacity also makes it less suited to large batches.
4. OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel 6.34-Quart — best for prep and serving
Food Network’s stainless-steel choice has a stated 6.34-quart capacity and can move from food prep to the table as a serving bowl. It offers a different role from the everyday plastic OXO: the exterior presentation is more serving-friendly, while the larger capacity accommodates substantial batches.
Rank #3
- Maximum Lettuce-Drying, Minimum Effort: Use the OXO Salad Spinner's one-handed pump to thoroughly dry greens, beans, even use it as a fruit washer. The salad spinners best rated always include a superior rinse, spin, and dry like ours
- Touch-Button Spin: This is a lettuce spinner with force, thanks to the touch-button spin and the patented brake that stops the basket immediately. Plus, the OXO Salad Spinner's non-skid base keeps it firmly in place
- Salad Spinner Small Enough to Store Neatly: Press the lettuce keeper pump handle down, then slide the storage lock into place. This holds the pump flush with the lid, make the small salad spinner easy to store
- Multi-Tasker Not Just For Lettuce: The Little Salad & Herb Spinner doubles as a vegetable and fruit strainer, and makes a great serving bowl too. Use it as a lettuce keeper during meal prep, toss your salads directly in the bowl, and serve
- Lid Comes Apart for Easy Cleaning: The lid comes apart on this robust vegetable washer, so moisture won't accumulate. All parts are dishwasher safe - top rack is recommended
The stainless bowl is heavier and opaque during operation, Food Network notes. You cannot see the contents spinning through the bowl, and lifting or handling it takes more weight than the plastic alternative.
5. Joseph Joseph 4-Piece Multi-Prep — best multi-use set
Food Network selected this option for its multi-use design: the set combines a spinner with other salad-preparation tools. It makes sense for someone who wants several prep functions in one purchase rather than a spinner alone.

Which one fits your kitchen?
| Model | Best fit | Capacity | Main trade-off reported |
|---|---|---|---|
| OXO Good Grips Large | Everyday all-around use | 6.22 quarts | Some plastic pieces may be less durable |
| Farberware Pro | Large batches and value | 6.6 quarts | Lid is trickier to clean; thinner plastic noted |

| OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel | Prep-to-serving use | 6.34 quarts | Heavier and opaque during spinning |
| Joseph Joseph 4-Piece Multi-Prep | Multiple salad-prep tasks | Not stated in Food Network’s cited coverage | Bundled functionality is the defining advantage |
- Choose OXO Good Grips Large if you want a roomy pump spinner and prioritize the reported overall performance.
- Choose Farberware Pro if you need the largest stated capacity here and accept a more involved lid cleanup.
- Choose Progressive Prepworks if storage height matters more than speed or capacity.
- Choose OXO Stainless Steel if the bowl’s serving role matters enough to accept added weight and opacity.
- Choose Joseph Joseph Multi-Prep if combining several prep tools is more useful than buying a spinner by itself.
Cleaning and mechanism matter as much as capacity
Food Network’s testing considered mechanism, ease of use, braking, and cleanup, not just how dry the greens looked. The OXO Large uses a push-button pump, as does the Farberware Pro; Food Network’s comparison describes the Progressive model as requiring more effort. The roundup also flags maintenance concerns: the Farberware lid can be harder to clean, and its coverage raises a cleaning concern about the pull cord on the Zyliss Easy Spin 2.
Zyliss is a relevant alternative if you specifically prefer a pull-cord mechanism. BBC Good Food’s 2025 roundup praised the Easy Spin 2, while Food Network’s 2026 coverage reported good drying but questioned how easy the cord is to clean. Those are different assessments from different publications and dates, not a single settled verdict.
Can you store lettuce in a salad spinner?
Some spinners can serve as a temporary container for washed greens, but do not assume every model has a sealing or airtight lid. Check the specific product’s lid design and care guidance, and dry the greens well before storage. A bowl that is convenient for spinning is not automatically a substitute for an airtight food-storage container.

Is a salad spinner necessary?
No. A spinner is a convenience for removing water from washed greens and herbs; a clean towel can also be used to dry produce. It is most useful if you prepare leafy greens often, want to reduce excess water before dressing them, or value a basket-and-bowl setup for repeated washing and drying.
