Compare the exact models rather than relying on the tier name. Check capacity, rope type and length, ingress rating, mounting dimensions, controls, and current warranty information on the product page and in the manual.
What owner reviews can—and cannot—tell you

What Harbor Freight’s specifications do not establish
Harbor Freight’s March 1, 2023 release about upgraded ZXR winches described the then-upgraded 9,500 lb and 12,000 lb truck/SUV models as having series-wound motors, automatic load-holding brakes, IP66 ratings, steel rope, and revised line speed and control-box routing. It also stated no-load line speeds of up to 25.9 ft/min for the 9,500 lb model and up to 26.5 ft/min for the 12,000 lb model. These are manufacturer specifications from 2023, not independent test results; confirm current details for the exact model you are considering.
