Run your Samsung washer’s Eco Drum Clean cycle with the drum empty and, unless the manual for your exact model explicitly says otherwise, without detergent or any other cleaner. Select Eco Drum Clean, Eco Drum Clean+, or the equivalent tub-clean cycle on the control panel, then start it using the controls shown for that model.
How do I clean the drum on my Samsung washing machine?
- Remove all laundry and other items from the drum. Samsung warns that items left inside may be damaged during the cycle.
- Turn on the washer and choose Eco Drum Clean, Eco Drum Clean+, or the corresponding tub-clean course on your model’s panel.
- Start the cycle using the displayed controls. Depending on the model, this may mean pressing or holding Start/Pause; panel labels and operation vary.
- Let the cycle finish before using the washer again.
Samsung UK and France describe their drum-clean cycles as running without detergent or cleaning agents. Samsung Malaysia gives conditional instructions for certain recommended drum cleaners, so additive guidance is not identical across every market and model. Follow the manual for your washer; do not add an ordinary laundry detergent, and use no cleaner unless that manual explicitly permits it. Do I put detergent in Eco Drum Clean?
No ordinary laundry detergent. UK and France support instructions say to run the cycle without detergent or cleaning products. Malaysia’s page describes a limited exception for a recommended drum cleaner, with specific conditions; it is not a general approval for other products or all Samsung washers. The safe rule is to use no additive unless the instructions for your exact model explicitly allow one. Residue from products can affect the washer or later laundry.
Do not assume a particular temperature or that you can adjust it. Samsung support pages describe temperatures in the 60–70 °C range, while the actual setting and whether it is adjustable depend on the model. Check the manual or the cycle display rather than changing settings based on another washer’s instructions.

How often should I run Drum Clean?
Use the washer’s Drum Clean reminder as the main prompt. Samsung France describes a reminder at about every 40 washes, and Samsung UK and Malaysia also describe reminders around that interval; the timing and alert behavior vary by model. Samsung UK notes that on some Eco Drum Clean+ models, the reminder may stop appearing after it has been ignored several times. An absent reminder light by itself does not prove the washer is faulty. What else should I clean?
Door seal on front-load washers
Check beneath the folds of the rubber gasket for lint, moisture, or trapped objects. Remove debris, wipe the seal with a soft brush or damp cloth, dry it with a clean cloth, and leave the door open so the seal can dry. Samsung France recommends cleaning the door seal about monthly. Avoid bleach, abrasive products, and other cleaners unless the model manual approves them; Samsung warns that chemicals can damage or deform the seal. See Samsung France’s seal-cleaning instructions.

Debris and water-hose mesh filters
Filter cleaning is separate from the automatic drum cycle. Samsung UK recommends cleaning the debris filter about five or six times a year and the water-hose mesh filter once or twice a year. These are general manufacturer recommendations, not schedules established for every model. Filter location, access, and safe cleaning steps differ, so consult your washer’s manual before opening or removing a filter. Samsung uses different cycle names, panel controls, reminder behavior, temperatures, and additive instructions across models and regions. The control panel and the manual for your washer take precedence over a general online instruction or guidance written for a different country. If the cycle name is unclear, look for a tub-clean course in the manual rather than substituting a regular wash program.
