Noise changes with power setting, and the figures come from different publications using different methods. Compare each model at the setting you expect to use, then weigh that noise against floor-cleaning needs, usable runtime, weight and dust-handling convenience.
How quiet are the leading cordless vacuums?
The strongest direct evidence is mode-dependent rather than a single product rating. Homes & Gardens measured the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra at 66.7, 68.4, 75.6 and 75.8 dB using the DecibelX app. Its review lists four manual settings—MIN, MID, MAX and JET—but does not map the four readings to those named settings, so the figures should not be assigned to individual modes. Tom’s Guide reports 66 dB in Eco and 85 dB in Boost for the Dyson Gen5Detect. Those are review measurements, not manufacturer specifications. They show why a vacuum’s noise at the setting you actually use matters more than a broad “quiet” label. See Tom’s Guide’s 2026 vacuum guide.
These readings are not a controlled head-to-head test: the publications’ methods and conditions are not established as equivalent. The Samsung range and Dyson mode readings therefore cannot prove that one model is quieter than the other in the same room, on the same floor and under the same test conditions.

Both are premium cordless options in the evidence available here, but the published information does not support naming an overall quietest model or comparing their cleaning performance across carpet and hard floors under equivalent conditions. Check current local listings for price, regional model suffixes and included accessories before buying; availability and configurations can differ by region.
What the noise number can—and cannot—tell you
A decibel reading describes sound level under the measurement conditions used; it is not a complete measure of how a vacuum will sound in your home. The cited sources do not provide a common test protocol for these two products. Room acoustics, distance, floor head and selected power mode can all affect what you hear, so treat the published figures as useful context rather than a controlled ranking.

Do not confuse the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra with Samsung’s separate Bespoke Jet Pet Extra model, VS20A95923N/SA. Samsung Australia specifies 86 dBA for the Pet Extra; that figure is not an AI Jet Ultra specification, and the product page does not establish a test method that makes it directly comparable with the reviewer app readings. 1. Start with the setting you will actually use
If noise is the priority, focus on the everyday power setting that still cleans your floors adequately. The sources report a low Eco figure and a much higher Boost figure for the Dyson, while the Samsung review gives four readings without tying each to a named setting. Ask retailers or manufacturers for mode-specific sound information if you need a direct comparison, and avoid treating a single number as representative of every setting.

2. Match cleaning needs to your floors
Consider the mix of carpet and hard flooring in your home and whether you need extra suction for rugs or heavier debris. Higher-power modes may be useful for demanding jobs, but the published noise figures alone do not establish which vacuum cleans a particular floor better. Seek an independent comparison using the same floor types and test conditions if cleaning performance is decisive.
3. Compare runtime at that power setting
Dyson lists up to 70 minutes for Gen5Detect and warns that actual runtime varies with power mode, dust level, floor type and attachments. Tom’s Guide’s mode-specific figures are up to 70 minutes in Eco, 40 minutes in Auto and 15 minutes in Boost. Homes & Gardens lists up to 100 minutes for the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, but the cited detail does not specify a mode for that maximum. Maximum runtime is not the same as expected cleaning time at a higher-power setting.

Dyson’s US cordless-vacuum page also lists up to 140 minutes for Gen5outsize using two battery packs. That is a different model and configuration, not the Gen5Detect runtime. Check Dyson’s US cordless vacuum range for current product details.
4. Check weight and how you handle the dust
The published weights are close: Homes & Gardens lists the Samsung at 7 lb, while Tom’s Guide lists the Dyson Gen5Detect at 7.7 lb and Dyson lists it at 7.6 lb. Differences in source and specification context matter, but either figure is worth considering if you carry the vacuum between floors or use it overhead. Also compare the dust-bin emptying process and whether a cleaning station’s convenience is worth the space, cost and noise trade-off; the cited sound evidence does not measure station operation.
5. Verify the exact regional model
Before ordering, confirm the full model name and suffix, included tools, battery configuration, warranty and current local availability. Similar Samsung product names refer to distinct machines, and specifications for one should not be transferred to another.
