Identify the mirror before troubleshooting
Find the model name and check whether your mirror is rechargeable or uses a power cord. Similar symptoms do not guarantee the same fix: button placement, charging hardware, proximity activation, and reset procedures differ by model. Use Simplehuman’s mirror troubleshooting page for the exact model before following a model-specific reset or recalibration.
- Compact: Instructions cover press-and-hold power behavior, charging indicators, brightness settings, and automatic shutoff.
- Pro Wide View Dual Magnification: The support page covers charging, sensor activation, resets, and app linking. For linking problems, follow its exact hard-reset sequence or video rather than improvising with the button and charger.
- Round: Its support instructions include sensor activation, shutoff, dimming, and model-specific calibration.
- Trio Max: It has a distinct procedure for the flipping mechanism; do not use it on another mirror.
- Hi-Fi: Use its separate support instructions for Wi-Fi, updates, microphone mute, night light, and audio.
Simplehuman’s troubleshooting pages do not state publication dates, so check the current page for your model before relying on a reset or replacement-part listing.
Mirror doesn’t charge
Check the charger and cable
- Confirm that the charger is connected securely at both ends and that the outlet works.
- Test the charger and cable with a phone or another rechargeable device. If that device does not charge, the power path—not necessarily the mirror—may be the problem.
- Check the connector and power requirements against the exact mirror model before buying a replacement. Simplehuman lists different parts for different products, including a Micro-USB cable and black charger for some Compact mirrors and a power cord for Trio Max.
Allow for a low-battery delay
Simplehuman says a very depleted mirror battery may take up to 10 minutes to show a charging indicator. Its estimated full-charge time is 4–8 hours, depending on the mirror model and USB charger rating. These are manufacturer instructions, not independent test results.

If the mirror still will not charge after four hours, some model support pages direct owners to perform a reset. Follow that model’s current instructions; there is no universal Simplehuman mirror reset.
Mirror doesn’t light up
- Make sure the mirror is switched on. Depending on the model, you may need to press and hold the power button.
- If it is rechargeable, check its indicator. If the battery appears low or there is no indicator, charge it for at least 30 minutes and try again.
- For a proximity-activated model, wipe the sensor lens with a soft cloth. Move your hand about 4–6 inches in front of the sensor to trigger the light.
Controls and activation vary by model, so check its support instructions if these basic steps do not work.
Mirror doesn’t turn off
A dirty or obstructed sensor can interfere with operation. Simplehuman recommends cleaning the sensor with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth, then checking that nothing is blocking or confusing it.

For certain Fold and Round models, Simplehuman describes a power-cycle reset: turn the mirror off using the button on the bottom or back, leave it off for 20 seconds, then turn it on again. Do not assume this applies to every model. Some Compact mirrors turn off automatically after five minutes or when returned to their case.

Check your position and the sensor’s view
Simplehuman recommends standing about 6–8 inches from the sensor, described in its guidance as the dark-tinted window on the light ring. Keep the mirror within its sensing range and avoid an angle that takes you out of view. The light may dim and turn off after a period of inactivity.
Use recalibration only if your model supports it
If positioning and sensor cleaning do not help, check whether the support page for your Round or Fold model provides recalibration instructions. The documented sequence for applicable models is:

- Unplug the charger.
- Hold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Clean the sensor and clear at least five feet of space in front of the mirror.
- Hold the power button for another 10 seconds, then wait one minute for the reset.
This is model-specific guidance, not a general reset for all Simplehuman mirrors. Confirm the steps on the current page for your exact model before proceeding.

Trio Max flipping mechanism
Simplehuman says the mechanism can protect its gears if the mirror is obstructed or flipped manually. Its support page gives a specific sequence involving repeated double-taps on the touch control. Follow the Trio Max instructions as written; the procedure is not intended for other models.
Pro mirror app linking
Some Pro mirrors have a hard-reset sequence for linking that involves plugging in and unplugging the mirror while holding the rear button. Because the sequence is particular to that model, use the instructions or video on the official troubleshooting page rather than approximating it.

Hi-Fi connectivity and audio
For Hi-Fi models, consult the separate Simplehuman Hi-Fi troubleshooting page for Wi-Fi, software updates, microphone mute, night light, and audio issues. On this model, a blinking blue light indicates an update in progress, while a red front light indicates that the microphone is muted.
When to contact Simplehuman
If the power and sensor checks fail, or the model-specific reset does not resolve the issue, contact Simplehuman support through the relevant product page. Have the mirror model and power setup ready. Use the manufacturer’s warranty or repair route for the exact product; the troubleshooting instructions do not establish that every fault is user-fixable.
