The right cocktail glass depends on the drink you make and how much you pour: a coupe is the more forgiving all-purpose option, a V-shaped martini glass makes a bolder but less spill-resistant statement, and a Nick & Nora suits smaller spirit-forward cocktails. The available product reviews support four named examples, not nine independently verified winners, so this guide compares those four without padding the list.
Choose a glass shape for the drink
Coupe
A coupe’s rounded bowl is less prone to sloshing than the straight sides of a classic V-shaped martini glass. It works across many cocktails served up, making it a flexible choice for a home bar. Its broad opening can still leave less room for a tall garnish or foam than a deeper bowl.
V-shaped martini glass
The sharp, wide silhouette is traditional for martinis and visually distinctive, but its open shape makes spills easier when the glass is moved. Capacity matters: a very large bowl can make a conventional single pour look small, even if the extra room accommodates larger drinks or garnishes.
Nick & Nora
This smaller stemmed glass is intended for measured, spirit-forward drinks served up. Liquor.com’s January 9, 2024 guide traces the name to Nick and Nora Charles from The Thin Man and says bartender Dale DeGroff popularized it after ordering small coupe-like glasses while working at the Rainbow Room in the late 1980s. A compact bowl is a good fit for restrained pours, but less flexible for elaborate garnishes or larger cocktails.

Four product picks supported by published reviews
The testing and recommendations below belong to the named publications. Liquor.com says its roundup products were hands-on tested; this comparison does not claim independent testing. Capacity figures vary between published listings, so treat them as source-specific and confirm the exact product variant before buying.
| Pick | Published specifications | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Riedel Drink Specific Nick & Nora — Liquor.com’s best overall | Liquor.com reported 4-ounce capacity, six-inch height, machine-blown construction, and a set of two in its 2024 review. Riedel’s product page confirms machine-made crystal, a two-glass set, and dishwasher-safe care guidance; Shaker & Sphere published a 4.94-ounce specification in 2026. | The small format suits compact served-up drinks. Published capacity differs, so verify the exact model and retail variant. |
| Schott Zwiesel Tritan Pure Martini Glass — Liquor.com’s contemporary pick | Liquor.com reported 11.6-ounce capacity for a six-glass set in 2024. Food Network lists a Pure set at 12.3 ounces. | Liquor.com notes that the bowl can be oversized for a traditional single martini, while offering room for larger cocktails or garnishes. Confirm the SKU behind the capacity figure. |
| BarConic Coupe — Liquor.com’s budget pick | Liquor.com reported 7-ounce capacity and four glasses per set in 2024. | The review describes sturdy, affordable pressed glass, but notes visible seams and a thick lip that can affect garnish placement. |
| Bormioli Rocco Novecento Coupe | Shaker & Sphere published an 8.5-ounce capacity for a four-glass set in 2026; these are secondary-source specifications, not independently measured figures. | Consider it as another coupe option, but verify the current product details and variant with the seller. |
What to check before choosing
- Pour size and headroom: Match the bowl to the drink you actually serve. Leave room for foam, ice-free dilution, or a garnish without relying on the glass’s maximum capacity.
- Spill tolerance: If drinks will be carried across a room or served outdoors, a coupe’s curved sides are more forgiving than a wide V-shaped bowl.
- Rim and garnish: Check whether the rim leaves enough room for your usual garnish. A thick lip or narrow opening can make placement awkward.
- Material and feel: Construction and thickness affect appearance, weight, and how the glass feels in hand. These are personal preferences; published descriptions may not establish how a particular glass will feel to you.
- Care instructions: Follow the manufacturer’s guidance rather than assuming all stemware is dishwasher-safe. Riedel’s cited Nick & Nora product page says its glass is dishwasher-safe.
- Set size: Compare how many glasses are included with how many people you typically serve; the picks above range from two to six glasses per set in the cited listings.
How to read the 2025 “best” claim
The title’s year does not mean these four picks were all tested in 2025. Liquor.com’s relevant product review was updated April 16, 2024; Bon Appétit’s June 12, 2025 article offers context on renewed interest in the classic martini silhouette, but not evidence for nine tested winners. The cited sources do not establish nine distinct products with comparable hands-on evaluations, so a nine-item ranking would overstate what is verified. Product prices, stock, and listings can change; check current retailer details and exact model names before purchasing.
