Nerdforge creators Martina and Hans transformed an entire room into a fantasy wizard’s study, with a spiral staircase, fireplace and ornate faux window as its defining features. The set was designed with a theater set builder so it could be dismantled and relocated—but the available project coverage does not provide construction plans or a materials list.
What Nerdforge built
In a video titled “I Built a Wizard Study… in my entire room,” Martina and Hans of Nerdforge present a full-room fantasy makeover. Make:’s Caleb Kraft highlights three major set pieces: a spiral staircase, a fireplace and an ornate faux window. The window is decorative rather than a real exterior opening, helping establish the room’s imagined setting. Make:’s project feature describes the visual elements, while Nerdforge’s video carries the original “wizard study” title.
Why the set was designed to move
Make: reports that Nerdforge worked with a theater set builder to design the room for disassembly and relocation. That portability goal distinguishes the project from a conventional permanent room renovation: a theatrical set can be conceived as components that come apart, rather than as finishes and fixtures intended to stay attached to a building. The coverage does not explain the specific joinery, support system or sequence used, so it cannot serve as a structural plan.
What the coverage does—and does not—tell a builder
The feature is useful as a visual reference for a themed room or immersive set, but it is not a build tutorial. It names no project materials, tools, dimensions, budget, duration or construction steps. Those details cannot be reliably inferred from images or from the description of the finished room.

- Not established: how the elements were framed or fastened, whether the fireplace is functional, the room’s measurements, and the materials or costs involved.
For construction planning, treat the project as inspiration rather than a specification. A similar room would need plans tailored to its actual dimensions, intended use, and whether the set must be repeatedly assembled and moved.
