If your Balsam Hill tree remote is not working, first identify the exact tree and remote, then follow that model’s instructions. There is no reset or pairing sequence established for every Balsam Hill tree. Check the battery only against the remote’s specified type, and contact Balsam Hill if the instructions do not resolve the problem or you need a compatible part.
Identify your tree, remote, and control system
Balsam Hill tree configurations vary. Its assembly instructions state that a control box and remote are included with Color + Clear trees and select Flip trees; that does not mean every tree uses the same controller.

Find the tree’s model name and, if possible, its approximate purchase or manufacture year. Then locate the matching Assembly, Use, and Care instructions and compare the remote and control box with what you have. If the remote or controller is missing, damaged, or hard to identify, contact Balsam Hill customer support with those details before trying an unverified replacement.
Check the remote battery only as specified
- Check the product instructions or the battery compartment for the battery type and polarity.
- If the remote takes a replaceable battery, install a fresh one of the specified type, matching the polarity markings.
- If the battery type or compartment is unclear, do not assume it is AAA; ask Balsam Hill for guidance.
Balsam Hill lists an AAA battery for the remote on the LED Clear Lights version of its BH Balsam Fir tabletop tree. That specification applies to that product configuration, not necessarily to other remotes. If your remote’s instructions specify AAA, fresh AAA batteries are a reasonable check—not a guaranteed fix for every remote fault.

Is the remote unresponsive, or are the lights failing?
The remote does not respond
After verifying the battery, check the tree’s own instructions for its power and control-box setup. Do not try a generic reset, re-pairing sequence, or receiver swap: the general Balsam Hill pages referenced here do not establish a universal procedure. For the reset question—“How do I reset a Balsam Hill tree remote?”—the reliable answer is to use the instructions for the exact tree and remote, or ask Balsam Hill support for model-specific steps.
The remote responds, but some lights are out
Treat this as a lighting issue rather than assuming the remote is faulty. Balsam Hill’s pre-lit tree light troubleshooting guide, stated to be updated August 20, 2026, covers checking light-string connections and bulbs, including master bulbs and fuses where applicable. Follow that guide and the tree’s instructions for the affected light set.
Bulbs and fuses are lighting components; their availability does not establish that a replacement remote or receiver is compatible. Balsam Hill’s replacement-parts page discusses bulb and fuse parts and advises checking light compatibility.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Have the tree model, approximate purchase year, a description of the remote and controller, and the symptom ready. Explain whether the entire tree is unlit, only a section is out, or the lights work but do not respond to the remote; these are different problems and may require different instructions.
Keep troubleshooting within the instructions and warranty terms
Balsam Hill recommends using the product’s Assembly, Use, and Care instructions or contacting customer support when a tree problem remains unresolved. Its warranty information describes a three-year limited warranty for regular- and sale-priced artificial trees, including factory-installed lights subject to exclusions. Whether a particular tree or fault is covered depends on the purchase and applicable terms, so check your own warranty before arranging a repair or replacement.
Do not open or modify electrical components, substitute a remote, or replace a receiver unless the exact product instructions or a Balsam Hill support specialist directs you to do so.
