Weber’s U.S. recall covers about 3.2 million metal-wire grill brushes. If your brush is model 6277, 6278, 6463, 6464, 6493 or 6494, stop using it and contact Weber for the recall replacement. Detached bristles can remain on a grill or food and may be swallowed, causing serious internal injury.
Is my Weber grill brush recalled?
Check the model number printed on the product packaging. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notice identifies only six Weber models in this recall. Match the number and the product description below; a brush sold by a named retailer is not automatically part of the recall.

The CPSC announced the U.S. recall on February 26, 2026, covering about 3.2 million brushes sold from 2011 through 2026. The stated retail price range was $10 to $17. The brushes were sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Target, online at Amazon and Weber.com, and appeared on resale sites including eBay. Those sales channels do not mean every grill brush sold there is recalled: use the model number to check.
Why were the Weber brushes recalled?
Metal bristles can detach from the brush, stick to the grill or food, and be swallowed. Swallowed bristles can cause serious internal injuries and may require surgery. In the recall notice, Weber reported at least 38 reports and reviews of detached bristles. Separately, Weber reported four cases in which consumers swallowed bristles and sought medical treatment to remove bristles from the digestive tract or throat. The 38 reports and reviews should not be read as 38 confirmed injuries.

What should I do with a recalled Weber grill brush?
- Stop using it immediately. Do not use a listed brush again, even if it appears intact.
- Contact Weber for the recall remedy. The CPSC says Weber will provide a replacement cold-cleaning nylon-bristle grill brush and will ask you to discard the recalled brush. Call 877-597-9588, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time, or use Weber’s U.S. recall-event page or the “Recall Notice” page on Weber.com.
- Discard the recalled brush as directed. Follow Weber’s instructions as part of the remedy; do not keep it for future use.
- Check the grill and food before cooking. CPSC Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman advised consumers to inspect the grill surface for detached bristles before grilling and examine food closely. Report an incident through SaferProducts.gov.
Feldman’s February 26, 2026 statement urged consumers not to wait for grilling season to act. The CPSC also advises switching away from metal-wire brushes to non-wire alternatives.

The official Weber remedy is a cold-cleaning nylon-bristle brush. Follow the replacement brush maker’s stated cleaning method and temperature limits, and check that the brush suits your grill grate. The CPSC identifies the remedy category but does not evaluate or endorse particular third-party replacement brushes.

This is a U.S. recall. The CPSC recall index also lists separate wire-bristle brush recalls involving other brands; the six Weber model numbers above do not identify products from those recalls. If you own a brush from another brand, check the applicable notice rather than assuming this Weber list covers it.
