Keeping your subscription active is a condition of access to Board benefits, but renewal alone does not guarantee approval or payment of a particular benefit.
Who these renewal instructions apply to
This process is for workers registered with the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB). Registration systems and requirements differ by jurisdiction; workers outside Maharashtra should use the relevant official construction-worker board or authority. Hong Kong, for example, has a separate Construction Industry Council card-renewal process: Construction Industry Council.
What you need to renew in Maharashtra
The Board says registration is valid for one year. Its FAQ directs workers to apply online using the renewal tab on the Board website and submit a certificate confirming construction work during the year before applying. The Board’s downloads page says to use its new 90-day certificate for registration and renewal.
Use the current certificate available from the Board rather than an older copy, and check the portal’s live checklist for any additional items. The Board FAQ does not specify a universal renewal opening window or a complete list of renewal attachments.

How to submit your renewal
- Check your registration status. Confirm that your annual renewal is due and that you are using the Maharashtra Board system.
- Get the current 90-day work certificate. Download the certificate provided by the Board and have it completed to show your construction work in the year before your application.
- Apply online. Visit the MBOCWWB website and select the renewal tab to submit your renewal application.
- Follow the live checklist. Provide the certificate and any other items requested by the portal. Do not assume that every document required for initial registration is also required for renewal.
- Save the acknowledgement. Keep your submission confirmation and check the portal for status updates or further requests.
How renewal affects benefit access
The Board says a worker must be registered with it and have an active subscription to receive Board benefits. These are grouped as educational, social-security, financial and healthcare assistance. The schemes available to an individual depend on information in the Integrated Welfare Board Management System (IWBMS), and the supporting documents can differ by scheme.
Renewal keeps an important access condition in place; it is not approval of a separate benefit application. Check that your IWBMS profile is current and review the relevant scheme’s document requirements when you apply for assistance.

How long renewal may take—and what the 60-day period means
Maharashtra’s notified Right to Public Services list gives a processing period of 60 days for qualified construction-worker renewal applications. This is the listed service period for renewal processing, not a guarantee that a welfare claim will be approved or paid within 60 days. The materials cited do not establish a way to guarantee delay-free handling.
Checklist to reduce avoidable delays
- Confirm that your registration is due for annual renewal.
- Use the Board’s current 90-day certificate for the preceding year.
- Submit the certificate with the online renewal form and respond to any additional portal requests.
- Check that the information in your IWBMS profile is current.
- Save proof of submission and monitor the Board portal for status updates.
- For a benefit application, check that scheme’s document requirements separately from renewal.
Check the fee before paying
The Board noticeboard lists an August 13, 2025 notice waiving registration and renewal fees. A dated notice may not resolve every worker’s current circumstances, so check the live Board portal or ask the Board before paying. Do not rely on an older fee amount without confirming it.

Do not confuse renewal with initial registration
For initial registration, the Board lists age 18–60 and more than 90 days of construction work in the previous 12 months as eligibility criteria. Its registration page also lists proof of age, a 90-day work certificate, residence proof, identity proof and three passport-sized photographs. These are initial-registration details; the Board’s renewal FAQ does not establish that the full set is mandatory for every renewal.
