The Greek-inspired area combines white walls and blue doors with narrow paths, flowers, outdoor seating, and a small taverna. The PEOPLE account also mentions details such as bottles and hanging clothes, which help make the scene feel lived in. The brothers’ official garden site independently describes the white-and-blue palette, bougainvillea, and taverna.
How much did Mini Greece cost?
PEOPLE reported a cost of roughly $12,000 for Little Greece. That figure comes from the article’s interview with Michael Scherrer; neither the article nor the brothers’ site supplies a bill of materials, labor breakdown, or accounting method. It should be read as a reported project figure, not a quote for a comparable renovation or a typical cost for building a themed backyard.

How long did the backyard renovation take?
The PEOPLE report says the Greek-themed section took about two years. By the time of that October 2026 report, work on the brothers’ home and wider garden had been underway for about five years. Their official site describes a staged approach: themed areas start as a sketch or screen-based idea, then take shape in the garden using materials and systems such as wood, stone, paint, plants, lighting, and technology.
The brothers say they build almost everything themselves rather than buying ready-made themed sets. The PEOPLE account adds that friends helped with construction. The sources do not specify which materials or techniques were used for particular features, so the project is best understood as a gradual, hands-on build rather than a documented construction recipe.

PEOPLE reports that the brothers’ love of theme parks and trips to Greece helped inspire the project. Michael told the publication: “We’re both huge theme park fans and have always wanted to build a park of our own.” The garden turns that ambition into small themed worlds at home, including a place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. For anyone borrowing the idea, the useful design choice is how to balance permanent construction with details that can be moved or changed. The Scherrers’ official site describes the garden as a private attraction in Thurgau, roughly 10 minutes from Konstanz. As of October 4, 2026, it says there are no walk-in visits or regular opening hours, though it lists selected events and limited private bookings. The site also says one themed guest room is expected to become bookable from summer 2027. These arrangements can change, so check the official site for current dates and availability before making plans.
