Designed by Kiko Castello Branco Arquitetura + Lucas Cunha, the 2024 project brings together a shared living and dining area, a guest suite intended for visitors with reduced mobility, and a changing room for the existing pool. Its design makes the pavilion feel connected to the house and garden while keeping the new roof separate from the original building.
What is House AC?
House AC, also called Casa AC, is an addition rather than a standalone home. The project listing gives its area as 209 m² and its year as 2024. It was designed for an existing residence in Porto Feliz, Brazil.
The project was led by Kiko Castello Branco and Lucas Cunha, with Júlia Brückmann and Ana Paula Gomes on the project team. Carolina Lacaz photographed the project. The construction credit is Construtora M Gomes; the listing also credits WXYZ Engenharia for structural engineering, Arquimedes Costa Projeto Estrutural for services, and AF Projetos for other consulting.
ArchDaily’s project feature, published October 3, 2026, provides the project metadata and a description attributed to the architects. The project year and publication date are separate: 2024 is the listed project year, while 2026 is when the feature appeared.

How does the addition organize shared and private spaces?
Two rectangular blocks sit parallel to the pool beneath a shared roof. Their arrangement separates the more communal use from the more private guest accommodation without treating either as an isolated building.
The social block
The block nearer the original house extends the social area. Its program includes a kitchen, a large dining table and an integrated living room, supporting shared meals and time together beside the pool.
The guest suite
The second block is farther from the original house and rotated relative to the nearer one. It contains a ground-floor guest suite intended for visitors with reduced mobility. The architects describe its position as a way to provide privacy while widening the view from the main house. A changing room supports use of the existing pool.
The description establishes the suite’s intended users and ground-floor location, but does not document specific accessibility features such as door clearances, step-free routes, grab bars or bathroom dimensions. Those details should not be assumed from the stated intent alone.

How does the pavilion relate to the house, garden and pool?
The roof approaches the original house but does not touch it. That separation distinguishes old from new, while the parallel layout and long roof edge orient the addition toward the pool. The nearer block extends the house’s social use; the more distant, rotated block preserves privacy and opens a broader view from the existing residence.
Wide sliding glass doors connect the pavilion interior to the exterior. The floor continues from inside toward the pool surround, making the transition between living space and poolside paving visually continuous.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What materials and construction details define House AC?
The architects describe a structure of metal columns and beams on concrete foundations, supporting a light roof made with timber beams that extend toward the pool. At the eave, glass and metal mesh form an edge intended to protect the facade and filter incoming natural light. The project description does not provide measured solar-control, energy-use or structural-performance results.
Outside, lead-colored wooden panels with a cement finish sit alongside the original house’s black-painted wooden panels. The contrast in color preserves a visual distinction, while the shared panel-based expression creates continuity between the buildings. A light beige exposed-aggregate floor runs through the pavilion and out to the pool surround.

The project listing names Florense, Alwitra, Granitorre and InvestWood–Viroc among manufacturers, but does not map each name to a specific installed component. It describes the exterior as cement-finished wooden panels without giving an exact panel model or full specification.
What did prefabrication contribute to the build?
The architects say they prioritized prefabricated elements assembled on site to keep construction fast, clean and organized. Their project description, published by ArchDaily, reports that work from foundations through finishes took four months. This is the project team’s reported schedule, not a general construction benchmark or a guarantee that prefabrication will produce the same timeline elsewhere.
The description does not provide a cost comparison, quantified waste data or independently measured environmental outcomes. Prefabrication is presented as a construction and coordination choice for this project, not as evidence of a particular saving or performance result.
