When was Harrison Street closed near Sumner Station?

Sound Transit’s September 8, 2026 construction bulletin announced paving on Harrison Street for Monday, September 14. The closure was to begin at 7 a.m., with access expected to be restored by 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 15. This was a temporary, scheduled closure, not a current travel advisory.

Where was the paving work?

The announced work area was Harrison Street near Station Lane, including roadway directly east and west of the intersection. During the closure, Sound Transit advised travelers to arrange alternate parking and travel in advance and follow posted traffic-control signs and detours. The notice also anticipated construction equipment, noise, dust, and vibrations.

What is the Sumner Station access project?

Garage opening forecast

Sound Transit currently forecasts that the garage will open to the public in late 2026 or early 2027. That is an estimate, not confirmation of an opening date. The agency’s timeline shows a broad design-and-construction period of 2017–2026 and a start-of-service window of late 2026 to early 2027, while also listing an older 2025 garage-completion target. The current project overview’s later public-opening forecast is the more relevant expectation.
